Southwest Health and Human Services currently has an opening for a Communications Specialist in our Marshall office.

The Communications Specialist role involves developing, designing and executing communications and events that support the Public Health mission. The position will also play a lead role in Public Health branding; plan and execute community relations; lead the strategy, development, planning and implementation of our communications plan; act as primary coordinator for the Public Health staff public engagement activities; and represent Southwest Health and Human Services at community meetings. Other duties include grant seeking/writing and implementing Public Health foundational capabilities as directed.
Minimum Qualifications:
· A bachelor’s degree in health communications, Public Health, strategic communications, or related field.
· Two years of advanced professional experience in strategic communications planning, writing, and publishing for various print and electronic communications in Public Health and/or chronic disease preferred but not required.
Preferred Experience:
· Knowledge of Public Health and prevention strategies
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
· Working Knowledge of graphic design and website management
· Experience in accessibility requirements
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Demonstrate strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
· Experience working with diverse populations
· Self-motivated
