Over 260 employees work together towards the common goal of providing efficient and reliable service to our members.

Currently, we are looking to add an System Support Specialist II to our team.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Position reports to Information Technologies Supervisor


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

B.S. in Information Technology

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

I. OBJECTIVES

Administer the Cooperative's information systems including the network hardware and software applications.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Respond to internal and external inquires concerning systems operation and diagnose system hardware, software and operator problems.
  • Provide networking assistance to users, including help with network connections and passwords.
  • Perform system updates, backups, installations, and implementations of software and hardware.
  • Maintain the mainframe and personal computer network system by diagnosing and isolating malfunctioning components, attaching or removing devices as needed by users, loading new applications, and testing software, among others to ensure that the computer network is functioning properly and efficiently and meets the user's needs.
  • Coordinates the operations of Compaq/Dec Alpha server system, batch job processing of daily jobs, printing of daily reports, bursting forms, daily file backups, distributing of user reports and handling of user request and/or problems.
  • Assists with the deployment, maintenance, support and upgrade of servers, desktop PC, hardware, software, operating systems, and distributed printers.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

The position requires a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of computer technologies and information systems, independent analysis and judgment skills, and excellent oral and written communications skills. Thorough knowledge of data processing principles, local area network administration, and information systems support.


WORKING CONDITIONS and PHYSICAL ABILITIES

Working hours include 7:30 am to 4:30 pm with one hour for lunch. Part-time hour may vary. The employee is required to work odd and unusual hours, including Saturdays, Sundays, holidays or evening and/or night shifts. Employee will be required to be on call based on the department's schedule. Incumbent of this classification is required to be available for emergency and/or pre-arranged work whenever called upon. Work is performed in office settings. Hand-eye coordination and fine manipulation skills are necessary to operate computers and various office machinery. This position also requires good listening skills. The employee may be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 20 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet.
