SUMMARY
Southwest Tech is seeking a Surgical Technology adjunct instructor. This position is responsible for
classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction related to client care primarily in the surgical/operating room
setting. Current knowledge, skills, and attitudes consistent with the legal and ethical practice of Surgical
Technology are required. The 2023 Fall classes begin on August 21, 2023.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
- Provide instruction and promote learning in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings, regarding
- Work collaboratively with the Surgical Technology program leader in designing and delivering
- Maintain current knowledge and practice with Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS), State,
- Deliver instruction through face-to-face, remote, and online methodologies in theory, laboratory,
- Manage a group of students in a health care agency to meet identified learning outcomes.
- Role model, assist, and advise students in achieving academic outcomes and employability skills,
- Work collaboratively with members of the Knox Learning Center to support student learning needs.
- Attend program advisory and WTCS program meetings, as assigned
- Engage with clinical agencies and partners to promote student, program, and College success
- Attend and engage in team, division, council, and College meetings and workgroups
- Participate in procedures and processes established by the College.
- Assist with marketing the program and the College.
- Evaluate program operations and provide evaluative feedback for program improvement.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of student information – Family Educational Rights Privacy Act
- Other duties as assigned.
TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
- Graduate of an education program in surgical technology accredited by a nationally recognized
- Possess a credential in the field of Surgical Technology through a national certification program
Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical Technologist/Certified Surgical First Assistant (CST/CSFA)
is required.
- Have a minimum total of two years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role

SURGICAL TECH ADJUNCT INSTRUCTOR
- Meets Wisconsin Technical College System certification requirements as an instructor of Surgical
- Meets Wisconsin Caregivers Background Check and Criminal Background requirements.
- Holds and maintains valid WI driver license with the ability to drive to and from assigned work sites
- CPR Certified
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Ability to generate, organize, and implement course outlines and lesson plans to meet specific needs
- Thorough understanding of applied academics and integrated curricula
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor,

ADJUNCT SALARY BAND:
Bachelors: $42,263-$51,501
Masters: $46,232 - $56,338
(Pay calculation based on education and experience. Adjunct positions are non-benefitted)
