What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adult Basic Education Content Specialist - English position at Southwestern Community College?
Primary Purpose:
Teach Adult Basic Education - English in alignment with ABE Level 4 English Course Plan
Develop and Compile lesson plans for use by other College and Career Readiness Instructors
Part-time up 23 hours per week $23.58 hourly
Enjoy working with adult learners and understand the different teaching principles needed to engage adults in the learning process. Familiar with preparing and teaching assigned courses in accordance with course outlines and published course schedule.
- Maintain accurate records for each course taught
- Submit subject-specific lesson plans weekly
- Present at departmental professional development events
- Assist in student retention
- Submit all college class reporting in an accurate, timely fashion
- Attend instructor and departmental meetings as scheduled
- Be responsible for professional development and maintaining professional competence
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and others
Education Required:
Bachelor's Degree and NCCCS Core Credential and/or NC Teaching Certificate and/or Master's Degree with 18 hours in English
Knowledge and Skills:
Ability to execute the responsibilities listed above. Ability to use computers and software to support instruction and troubleshoot problems with equipment and software when necessary.
