Job Summary:

The Teacher, under the supervision of the Education Services Manager, is responsible, first and

foremost, for knowing and implementing the SCS Head Start Active Supervision Policy to ensure the

safety of all children. The Teacher will create a warm, caring, safe, supportive, and developmentally

appropriate learning environment for all preschool children in accordance with NH State Child Care

Licensing Rules, Head Start Performance Standards, and NAEYC Accreditation Standards. The Teacher

will practice intentionality in their individual and whole group lesson planning when implementing the

Creative Curriculum and when using the TS GOLD® child assessment to fidelity, using data to facilitate

a learning environment that meets children’s individual needs. The Teacher will prepare lesson plans one
week ahead of time, submitting them on the Thursday before the week they are going to be used.

Using the pyramid model, the SCS Head Start Teacher will be sure the classroom implements a standard

array of tools that are required to be in the classroom, such as, but not limited to: Tucker the Turtle,

the daily Visual Schedule, Solution Kits, and the Pom-Pom Jar. The Teacher will work collaboratively

with the families, center staff, the Education Services Manager, the Behavior Specialist, and their Coach

to be sure the Pyramid Model is being implemented to fidelity.

Respecting the fact that parents are their children’s first teachers, the Teacher builds relationships with
the child’s family to establish a team of adults that work together to make sure the children are
receiving the services they deserve. The Teacher will ensure all screenings are completed within the

performance standards time frame and the individual screening expectations. The Teacher will discuss

the results with parents, and if services are needed above and beyond the typical realm of what the

classroom can offer, a Child and Family Review will be initiated and tracked to document referrals,

eligibility, and follow-up on the concern. The Teacher works collaboratively with all staff and is

responsible for knowing and implementing curriculum that encourages kindergarten readiness activities

aligning with SCS Head Start’s kindergarten readiness goals and the transition to kindergarten.

The Teacher will maintain all child records and their own licensing binder containing required

documents. The Teacher will go on home visits two times per year, conduct family conferences three

times per year, attend weekly staff meetings, monthly education meetings, coaching meetings,

professional development opportunities, IEP meetings, (CPT meetings exclusive to the Keene Center),

and other professional meetings. The Teacher will be expected to meet with the Education Services

Manager once a month at a minimum.

The Teacher will be expected to have a kind, flexible, and patient demeanor. The Teacher should have a

positive attitude, self-reflection skills, and be able to work in a team setting. The SCS Head Start

Teacher will have an empathetic understanding of people from all cultures, socioeconomic statuses, and

educational experiences. The Teacher will be able to communicate respectfully and effectively with

families, peers, service providers, volunteers, managers, and community partners with confidence and

clarity, while always maintaining confidentiality.

Essential Functions:

  • Adhering to the Active Supervision Policy, the Teacher is responsible for creating and
maintaining a high-quality learning environment by following the NH State Child Care Licensing

Rules, the Head Start Performance Standards, the NAEYC Accreditation Standards, the Pyramid

Observation Tool (TPOT), the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS), and all SCS

Head Start Policies and Procedures. The Teacher will keep an accurate inventory of all

materials, keep the classroom and center neat and orderly, create a balance of enough engaging

materials, but mindful that too much can be overstimulating, and keep it free of any hazards. In

keeping with best practices and safe environments, the Teacher is expected to train and support

the Teacher Assistant(s) to ensure they have the knowledge, skills, and tools to do their job.

  • Responsible for all screenings and assessments and for adhering to the American Disabilities Act.
Works collaboratively with the Teacher Assistant, Family Advocate, and appropriate managers

to administer ESI screenings and meet all child screening deadlines. Observes children and

records child observations into TS Gold to fidelity daily. Collaborates with the appropriate staff

to initiate and participate in child and family reviews, care planning, preparing the Family

Conference Form, conducting parent Teacher conferences and home visits, preparing referrals,

attending IEP meetings, and tracking disabilities services. The Teacher is expected to create and

submit whole classroom lesson plans and individual child lesson plans following the prescribed

template and using the Creative Curriculum Topic of Study. The Teacher will implement the

kindergarten transition plan and work collaboratively with the center staff to provide home

school connections related to the Topic of Study or in the social emotional domain.

  • The Teacher will maintain all child records and their own licensing binder containing required
documents. The Teacher will go on home visits two times per year, conduct family conferences

three times per year, attend weekly staff meetings, monthly education meetings, coaching

meetings, professional development opportunities, IEP meetings, (CPT meetings exclusive to the

Keene Center), and other professional meetings. The teach will honor deadlines for lesson

plans, monthly reports, referrals, and any other reports that may be requested. The Teacher will

participate in pre-service, post-service, professional development opportunities, monthly

education services meetings, classroom monthly report meetings, weekly center staff meetings

and meet with the Education Services Manager once a month at a minimum.

Desired Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a baccalaureate or advanced degree in early childhood education awarded by a
regionally accredited college or university, including at least 3 credits in the following core

knowledge area: Child Growth and Development

  • Or a baccalaureate or advanced degree and coursework equivalent to a major relating to early
childhood education, such as elementary education, child development, or another field of study

focused on children awarded by a regionally accredited college or university, and have passed

the Praxis II or have 24 Early Childhood Credits including at least 3 credits in the following core

knowledge area: Child Growth and Development

  • Must pass NH fingerprinting and criminal record check before hire.
  • Certification in child first aid and CPR (program will provide upon hire)
  • Classroom experience with pre-school children (Head Start experience preferred).
  • At times, when there is a recognized teacher shortage, the Director of the Head Start program

will have the discretion to hire a strong candidate based on the potential candidate’s experience
and education even if the candidate does not meet what is outlined in the Teacher job

description but meets the Head Start Performance Standards.

Position title: Site Facilitator

Reports to: Director of Child Development Services

Job Summary:

The Site Facilitator serves as a Team Leader, monitors and facilitates all environmental site-related

issues pertaining to the health and safety of children, families, and staff. When situations arise

unexpectedly, the Site Facilitator will delegate tasks to the most appropriate staff member instead of

leaving the classrooms, except for extreme emergency. The Site Facilitator is responsible for following

the procedures for center closings and informing the central office, for center publicity, and for public

relations opportunities. The Site Facilitator makes the center staff meeting agenda, following the agenda

template; works closely with the team to monitor and ensure all licensing requirements are being met

and followed; ensures that policies and procedures are being introduced, reviewed, and followed; that

active supervision is being adhered to; and also goes over the Daily Safety Checklist. The center Staff

meeting agenda template will also include, but is not limited to, the following: relaying emails sent by the

Management Team or others; ensuring monthly fire drills are done and recorded; monthly newsletter

submissions, open houses, special events; transition planning, home school connections, the curriculum,

care planning; and any concerns involving staff, children or families, maintenance concerns, getting supply

orders to the appropriate person, and ensuring that the entire facility is clean, organized, and child and

family friendly. The Site Facilitator is responsible for facilitating communication to and from the

Leadership Team and center staff, keeping the lines of communication open, directing staff issues to

their respective content area managers, but also directing staff to their supervisors for support and

supervision.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for monitoring, addressing, and facilitating all environmental site-related issues
pertaining to the health and safety of children, families, and staff. Also ensures that the entire

facility is clean and organized.

  • Responsible for monitoring and ensuring all licensing requirements are being met and followed;
SCS Head Start Policies and Procedures are being introduced at weekly center staff meetings

and reviewed, are adhering to Active Supervision, and are conducting the Daily Safety Checklist.

  • Responsible for approving staff time cards, facilitating weekly center staff meetings, using the
center staff meeting agenda template, and, as the Team Leader, planning center events with the

engagement of the entire center staff.

  • Certification in child first aid and CPR (program will provide upon hire).
  • Classroom experience with pre-school children (Head Start experience preferred).
