Southwestern Illinois College is accepting applications for the full-time administrative position of Director of Schmidt Art Center.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: In accordance with the Mission and Values of Southwestern Illinois College, the Director of the Schmidt Art Center acts as the lead administrator and is responsible for all facets of the Schmidt Art Center's operations in conjunction with the Curator. Duties include the collaborative approach of the art center involving community members, SWIC faculty and staff, and the Foundation. Oversight and management of scheduling and organization of exhibitions, the permanent collection; scheduling and promoting the use of the center; the preparation of grants and participation in fundraising efforts; and supervision of the staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Master’s in Fine Arts required.
2. Background clearance required.
3. At least three years of responsible experience in managing a non-profit higher education art center or gallery.
4. Event/facility management experience preferred.
5. Personal & curated exhibition experience required.
6. Experience in private and public art projects and initiatives.
7. Experience in marketing, fund raising public relations and working with staff and volunteer management preferred.
8. Contributes and assists in institution-wide projects and events as needed.
SALARY: Grade 7 on the Administrative Salary Scale, ranging from $82,232 to $95,539
WORK LOCATION: Belleville Campus with district-wide responsibilities.
