Responsibilities:
- Receive patient from the waiting room and escort to the exam or treatment room
- Obtain and record vital signs, height and weight, major complaint, medication and allergies in patient chart
- Perform venipuncture for blood collected by following proper specimen, storing and recording protocols
- Collect various specimens (i.e. urine, etc.) by following proper specimen collection, storing and recording protocols
- Prepare lab specimen in timely manner for transport to hospital lab by maintaining positive specimen identification throughout processing
- Prepare patient, assist physicians with set-up and clean-up of procedures as per protocols
- Perform, report and record clinical laboratory tests done
- Perform and record quality assurance data on clinical equipment according to protocols
- Observe universal precautions and aseptic techniques with patient and the use of medical instruments and equipment
- Perform and operate safely all medical equipment according to manufacturers' instructions and protocols
- Report and record patient critical lab values, adverse reactions and pertinent information promptly to physician and RN
- Responsible for monitoring medical supply inventory and reporting to office manager
- Perform computer order/entry functions
- Triage patient phone calls
- Able to perform administrative duties (i.e. scheduling appointments, answering phone, filing, handling medical records, etc.)
- Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers
- Interacts with others in a positive, respectful, and considerate manner
Requirements:
- Medical Assistant Education, Registered Medical Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant
- EMR experience
