The Work You’ll Do:
This role is a key member of the Sovos Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team with a focus on global expense planning. This position is responsible for all aspects of operating expense management including budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning (LRP) processes, as well as supporting various ad hoc business analyses in support of Sovos’ objectives. This position reports to the VP of FP&A and has one direct report, a Financial Analyst.
What are my responsibilities going to be, more specifically?
- Overall responsibility for execution of monthly operating expense forecast, as well as annual budgets and long-range plan activities
- Responsible for monitoring and reporting monthly operating expense performance versus budget
- Partners with functional expense leadership to help achieve financial and business goals, providing detailed support for IT, HR, and Marketing
- Develop process and methodology for reporting operating expense at various P&L levels (e.g., Product and Region) and implement system changes as needed through use of tagging, cost centers, etc.
- Responsible for reporting and analyzing exceptional expenses and capex
- Owns monthly staffing financial model working closely with the Chief Talent Officer
- Collaborate with accounting teams to ensure alignment between budget and actuals including departmental, regional, and margin reporting initiatives
- Source, develop, and interpret financial data to provide insight into trends and recommend improvements
- Develop, assess and adjust key business metrics
- Compile expense output from multiple systems / sources with accuracy and efficiency
- Designs, implements, and enhances financial forecasting tools and processes
- Participate in M&A integrations with specific focus on operating expense
- Coach and develop direct report
What We Need From You:
- Prior success in a FP&A role
- Prior expense management experience including supporting functional expense leaders
- Previous experience consolidating results in corporate finance department a plus
- Experience supporting a subscription/SaaS business and sound understanding of SaaS business metrics and revenue models a plus
- NetSuite and Adpative Insights a plus
- Excellent analytical and problem solving capabilities
- Sound analytical skills with the ability to successfully troubleshoot and problem solve with both internal and remote users
- Ability to comprehend and simplify complex concepts/analyses to help influence decisions
- Ability to effectively manage multiple work assignments and projects in a fast-paced and changing environment
- Due to federal contracts - successful candidates must successfully pass a background check and drug test before hire
