PROPULSION TECHNICIAN (RAPTOR VALVES)
The Propulsion Components team develops the most advanced spacecraft and launch vehicle components in the world. Our technicians serve as hardware build and test experts for the flow control devices that drive the critical capabilities on our Starship vehicle - from engine throttling to attitude control. You will build valves, regulators, and actuators for maximum reliability in extreme environments, with temperatures ranging from 900F to -400F and pressures beyond 10,000 psig. As a technician, you will be responsible for maintaining a high standard of build quality, ensure tests are being run correctly and will directly interface with build engineers on the floor. Technicians in this role will be expected to be capable of understanding component functionality to be able to assist in troubleshooting or recognizing potential issues before they occur and helping to update work instructions to reduce possibilities of future errors.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for building and testing valves, regulators and actuators
- Responsible for maintaining a professional and neat work area
- Responsible for staging, installing, set-up, testing and de-staging of production hardware
- Troubleshoot failure modes and provide photo documentation and work directly with engineering to solve problems
- Accept or reject test units based on calculated test data and results
- Perform work according to procedures, specifications and test instructions
- Accurately record daily work completion to report to the lead technician
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 2 years of experience working in a mechanical assembly or test role
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Completed training in the building or testing of propulsion, aviation or automotive hardware
- A&P license
- 5S knowledge and experience
- High attention to detail in order to ensure safety and accuracy of testing procedures
- Previous interaction and correspondence with support engineers
- Embodies team mentality; coachable and reliable
- Experience with pressure, temperature and flow measurement devices, and mechanical and electrical systems
- 5 years of aerospace component testing experience
- Strong mathematical, basic computer, problem solving, decision making skills, and strong written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to work independently or as part of a team, meet aggressive schedules, operate and understand readouts on standard test instrumentation
- Ability to make full use of computer network systems
- High pressure testing knowledge
- Experience in the aerospace industry
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Able to lift 25 lbs. unassisted
- Willing to work overtime and weekends as needed
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Pay range:
Level 1: $20.00 - $27.00/hour
Level 2: $25.00 - $32.50/hour
Level 3: $30.00 - $38.00/hour
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
