Project Cost Controller

Location: Calgary, AB

Here's what you will do as a Cost Controller at Spark Power:

• Set up project and work orders in the SparkOps Operations Management System
• Maintain the costing database and manage cost and accuracy against work orders and project budgets
• Prepare detailed project accruals and forecasts at the WBS level based on project schedules
• Work closely with the accounting team on the preparation of client invoices and processing of vendor invoices
• Identify trends and monitor project cost variances and report to Project Managers. Provide variance explanations as required.
• Support the project managers on preparation of change orders
• Maintain change order log and follow up regularly on the status of change orders
• Prepare monthly reports for projects and portfolio level that shows key financial KPI's, cash flow projections, risks and opportunities
• Review of WIP and unbilled cost reports and provide explanations
• Other tasks as assigned/required by project management and controls

Do you have the Spark? Here’s what we are looking for:

• Post-Secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management or Technical discipline
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in project planning and control preferably on EPC projects
• Proficiency in project control and monitoring principles
• Advanced MS office skills and proficient in Excel
• Experience with other Financial/Cost systems is an asset
• Highly organized and attention to detail and keen on getting accurate data and results
• Able to manage time effectively and work
• Able to meet deadlines, deliver, and manage multiple tasks
• Excellent communication skills both orally and in written
