Sparrow is hiring a FT Savory Chef to add to our family! Sparrow is a busy, medium-sized, regional, wholesale and retail bakery specializing in hand laminated croissants and crave-worthy café foods. We are currently hiring chefs for our NWX Café.

At Sparrow we say we are a “Teaching Company”: Cooking in our cafes is relatively simple in execution for an experienced chef, albeit fast paced and rarely dull – BUT we are also willing to teach and train the right worker without professional cooking experience to cook at our bakery!
FT for our chefs is 4 days/week with 3 days off the clock to rest, relax, and pursue the other parts of life!
Experienced chefs can expect to earn $19-$21/hr Depending on Experience, $5-$6/hr in tips. Inexperienced Chefs can plan to be hired at $18/hr, $5-$6/hr in tips, with wage growth potential. Candidates must be able to work at least 1 weekend day.Sparrow is an employee centered company. We offer a moderate benefits package: A 50/50 health insurance plan is offered for any FT individual after 60 days; sick-pay; PTO after 1 year vestige; and a 401K matching plan after 1 year vestige. Our Savory Chef position will involve preparing the section for service with prep work such as poaching eggs, making aioli, chicken salad, and other spreads, sauces, soups, and salads that flesh out our café menu. Savory chefs also work service and make sandwiches, soups, and salads to order, occasionally help customers at the register or at their table, deliver food, and maybe learn a few barista skills to boot!
This position is fast paced and intense - candidates will be most successful at this work if they have had experience with fast-paced, relentless work and know they are adrenaline junkies! We do as many breakfast and lunch covers as some of the busiest and largest dinner restaurants in town! Savory Chefs in our kitchen also have a decent amount of exposure to artisan baking and hand lamination, and cross training or gaining new skills to be able to support our production team is highly encouraged!
