Description:
As Director of Venue Partnerships for Spartan Race you will play a key role in furthering the companys position as a leader in the endurance events industry. You will identify, form, and maintain valuable partnerships with venues and host locations to ensure the needs of Spartans event business strategy are met. This role will require flexibility to adapt to a constantly changing atmosphere and the ability to learn quickly. You will work in tandem with the Production and Business Development team to meet the needs of the organization.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Identify and secure new potential event venues and markets.
Conduct site feasibility tours at event venues in the US, Canada, and select International markets.
Generate new venue leads. Most leads are typically found through research and cold calling.
Manage contracts with 50 host venues annually- set terms, renew agreements, manage deadlines, coordinate deliverables and liaise with the legal department on legal issues.
Negotiate contracts with venues for land-lease agreements and seek out marketing support opportunities as is possible.
Manage contract and payment status with internal legal and finance departments.
Collaborate with the event production department to support event planning and execution.
Collaborate with the business development team to align venues with identified markets.
Coordinate with venues and government officials to ensure all events are in full compliance with local laws and ordinances.
Coordinate venue details and event launch timelines with marketing and the registration teams.
Create and maintain relationships with venue owners/managers.
Review and improve venue cost structure to maximize profitability of events.
Create event plans and designs using mapping software (google earth, gpx).
Provide administrative and field support at US Events as needed.
Support DEKA, Tough Mudder and Spartan Trail securing venues.
Collaborate with the Marketing, Sales, and Business Development teams as needed on special projects, budget, and scheduling.
Job Qualifications:
1-2 years budgeting or financial analysis experience
Proven negotiation skills with director level and/or ownership team
Proficient with Google Share Drive Products, Smartsheet, Microsoft Suite
Experience with basic mapping technology (Google Earth, gpx.).
Able to travel domestically up to 25%.
Preferred 3 years in event management or experience with event logistics.
Proven success in making strategic decisions based on market analysis
Bachelor's degree preferred
