The Director of Venue Partnerships plays a crucial role in furthering the company’s position as a leader in the endurance events industry. Team members will identify, form, and maintain valuable partnerships with venues and host locations to meet Spartan’s event business strategy needs. This role will require flexibility to adapt to a constantly changing atmosphere and the ability to learn quickly. This position will work with the Production and Business Development team to meet the organization's needs.
Main Duties And Responsibilities
- Identify and secure new potential event venues.
- Conduct site feasibility tours at event venues in the US, Canada, and select International markets.
- Generate new venue leads. Most leads are typically found through research and cold calling.
- Create event plans and designs using mapping software (Google Earth, GPS, ).
- Negotiate and manage up to 75 land-lease agreements annually- set terms, renew agreements, manage deadlines, coordinate deliverables, and liaise with the legal department on legal issues, risks, and procuring certificates of insurance.
- Manage 75 contract payment schedules with internal legal and finance departments.
- Collaborate with all departments to support event planning and execution.
- Work closely with Sales, Marketing and Production teams to support event placement within a calendar year to ensure proper market saturation, staff and equipment availability, and optimal climate conditions.
- Coordinate with venues and government officials to ensure all events fully comply with local laws and ordinances.
- Submit special event permits when needed.
- Coordinate venue details and event launch timelines with internal departments.
- Create and maintain relationships with venue owners/managers.
- Review and improve venue cost structure.
- Provide administrative and field support at US Events as needed.
Job Qualifications:
- Required 3 years of sourcing venues or equivalent real estate experience
- Required 3 years of proven negotiation skills with senior partners
- Ideally experienced in event management or event logistics
- Ideally experienced with mapping technology (Google Earth, GPS).
- 1-2 years of budgeting and financial analysis experience
- Proficient with Google Share Drive Products, Smartsheet, Microsoft Suite
- Able to travel domestically up to 40% and internationally 15% of time
- Proven success in making strategic decisions based on market analysis
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Ability to hold one-self accountable and an aptitude for prioritizing multiple projects
- Strong sense of teamwork with the ability to foster relationships
- Proactive, solutions-oriented; capability to identify actionable efficiencies
- Collegial approach to a business environment and cooperative work style
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
