Medical Technologist at SMC Blood Bank
JOB DESCRIPTION:
A SRHS Medical Technologist for the Blood Bank performs various quantitative and qualitative clinical laboratory studies to comply with physician requests for analyses of blood specimens in order to provide data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease and to provide safe and timely blood products for patient transfusion. An MT for the Blood Bank must follow established laboratory standards, practices, and procedures, understands, and complies with the Behavior Standards and department policies, procedures and regulations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education
- Baccalaureate Degree (B.S.) in Medical Technology or in a laboratory related science
- The completion of an approved technical training program, which must include training in transfusion services.
Experience
- 0-1 year
License/Registration/Certifications
- MT or MLS (ASCP) registry eligible or MLT (ASCP) registered with a baccalaureate degree in medical technology or field of science.
- Grandfather in all MT I, currently recognized as of October 1, 2011.
