Job Description:
Responsible for the development and execution of project scopes, building and equipment maintenance, and vendor management across multiple distribution centers. One specific focus area will be maintaining compliance with all Federal, State, and Local Governmental requirements for ammonia systems across the SpartanNash Supply Chain and will assist and train other associates as necessary to build site capability, autonomy, and compliance.
Here’s what you’ll do:
Develop and implement business vision, critical success factors and operating plans; develop and communicate department/enterprise vision, strategies, critical success factors and plans; develop high level migration plans.
Provide on-site consultation and training to department heads and senior management team to assist them in understanding and using methods and tools for managing resources, such as labor, equipment and supply, space, and other assets, more efficiently.
Oversee the development, implementation and execution of multiple operational projects ensuring scope and schedule are established; oversee operating plans and resource allocation and conduct post-implementation evaluations.
Oversee facility and equipment maintenance operations to include, but not limited to, labor, expenses, productivity objectives, and operational execution.
Oversee the management, implementation, and administration of facility and equipment maintenance programs that meet overall equipment effectiveness standards to maintain equipment assets and ensure associates’ safety.
Work with various departments (i.e. Production, Safety, QA, etc.) to develop, maintain and update policies, procedures and processes to improve operational efficiency (automation and production costs) and ensure regulatory compliance. Communicate and/or implement approved/required changes to associates, management and the department.
Formulate and execute process and organizational improvement direction and programs which enhance overall effectiveness; proactively seek ways to improve processes, practices and tools. Understand business processes, issues/problems and applies appropriate standards and solutions.
Analyze resource utilization data and compare to available internal/external benchmarking data to develop recommendations for effective resources utilization and allocation; identify overall opportunities for cost savings, efficiencies and continuous improvement, and provide related analysis and return on investment (ROI).
Develop and maintain a network of industry contacts; perform or direct research on industry trends, competitors, business and products; analyze trends and makes strategic and tactical recommendations.
Work in collaboration with senior leadership and management to improve/optimize processes, increase productivity and operational efficiency, and improve product flow and organizational capacity.
Oversee the development of curriculum and the training in process improvement and productivity enhancement methodologies to project teams, department management, etc. Provide group facilitation as well as individual coaching to mitigate specific skill gaps.
Responsible for department management including staffing, training, performance management and career development of associates, and developing and monitoring department goals. Develop and monitor department budget as required.
Maintain current knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and practices; make recommendations to improve current programs and processes and to ensure company legal compliance.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Here's what you’ll need:
Bachelor's Degree (Required) in Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Ten years of experience in engineering, maintenance management, process improvement initiatives or related area to include experience within a manufacturing and/or distribution environment.
Certification in one or more types of Lean process improvement methodology (such as TPS, TPM, TQM, Six Sigma, Kanban, Kaizen, SPC, DOE,5S) required.
Five years of supervisory experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to effectively work with various levels within the organization, including senior leadership and management with a demonstrated ability to drive consensus across different functional teams to optimize manufacturing operations.
Strong organizational, prioritization, analytical and problem solving skills.
Must be detail oriented and have strong project management skills.
Must have technical and business knowledge to resolve the complex questions and issues. Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
Knowledge of engineering principles and techniques related to food manufacturing needed. CAD design and simulation software experience needed.
Ability to travel up to 50%.
