Basic Purpose of Position: Reporting to the General Accounting Controller, this position is responsible for the monthly, quarterly and annual closing process on a consolidated basis across multiple locations and business units, corporate internal financial reporting requirements and management of the company’s payroll function.
Primary or Major Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the company’s payroll function including managing the day-to-day activities of the payroll department and its staff to include running payrolls, reviewing payroll reconciliations, addressing employee payroll questions and auditing. Coordinate and implement HRIS system changes and improvements as required.
- Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of the monthly accounting period Close including reviewing of journal entries, identification and resolution of issues and supervision of accounting staff.
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements, internal financial management reports, the legal consolidation, Board of Directors monthly financial presentations and ad-hoc financial analysis as required.
- Responsible for General Ledger system and report maintenance including accounts, departments, budget changes, functional reporting and business unit reporting structure. Key contributor to design and implementation of new General Ledger/ERP System.
- Works closely with corporate accounting group in support of external reporting requirements and special projects.
- Coordinate the year-end audit with outside auditors and fiscal year accounting close.
- Provide leadership, direction and guidance to department personnel.
- Other responsibilities as required.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, MBA preferred. CPA preferred.
- 8-10 years of progressive experience in general accounting and payroll functions, across multiple locations and business units.
- Prior supervisory experience is a plus.
- Must have experience with SOX Compliance and Audits.
- Government accounting experience is a plus!
- Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to interact effectively with all levels throughout the organization.
- Working knowledge of applicable accounting and payroll laws, regulations, and standards.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Excel, Word, Outlook and working knowledge of SharePoint and PowerPoint
