Spathe Systems is seeking two Assistant Editor for the Joint Special Operations University (JSOU) mission in support of United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM).

- Edit academic manuscripts for proper grammar, acronym usage, and adherence to Chicago Manual of Style and other formatting styles as designated by university faculty and staff
- Initiate and track the progress of publications through the JSOU Press production process
- Edit professional scholarly works and other academic publications
- Support publication and distribution of research monographs, books, and occasional papers
- Support peer review process by coordinating with SMEs
- Coordinate and facilitate JSOU’s editorial board processes, and confirm accuracy of data and sources used within publications
- Update weekly department status reports of assigned project(s)
- Maintain electronic archives and data characteristics in accordance with industry and university standards
- Augment and assist JSOU’s strategic engagement research and analysis via planning and conduction of events, activities, and products as assigned
- Monitor the life cycle of JSOU Press products from initial acceptance through final production
- Produce, brief, and maintain status reports IAW Editor in Chief's guidance
- Coordinate layout and design of products to ensure content and quality are sustained IAW JSOU Press standards
- Coordinate pre-publication security classification and public release reviews in coordination with HQ USSOCOM Public Affairs, Legal, Operations Security (OPSEC), and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) policies and directives
- Coordinate graphics support, copyright permission, or photo support as necessary
- Organize and maintain electronic archives
- SECRET clearance required
- MS/MA required, with concentration in English/Writing*
- All degrees used to qualify a candidate for a PTE position shall be from a regionally accredited U.S. college/university or internationally recognized college/university.
- 5 years’ research and professional publication experience, knowledge of industry standards for academic publications
- Adobe Certified Associate: Print & Digital Media Publication Using Adobe InDesign
- 5 years’ experience in content and copy-editing and know image. resolution and print production standards for high resolution graphics
- Ability to move parcels in excess of 40 lbs

Travel
- Travel is required to various CONUS and OCONUS locations, including hazardous sites. The Contractor shall travel as initiated by written tasking.
