Overview
Spathe Systems is seeking an Assistant Editor for the Joint Special Operations University (JSOU) mission in support of United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM).

Responsibilities
- Edit academic manuscripts for proper grammar, acronym usage, and adherence to Chicago Manual of Style and other formatting styles as designated by university faculty and staff.
- Initiate and track the progress of publications through the JSOU Press production process.
- Edit professional scholarly works and other academic publications.
- Support publication and distribution of research monographs, books, and occasional papers.
- Support peer review process by coordinating with SMEs.
- Coordinate and facilitate JSOU’s editorial board processes, and confirm accuracy of data and sources used within publications.
- Maintain electronic archives and data characteristics in accordance with industry and university standards.
- Augment and assist JSOU’s Office of the Vice Provost for strategic engagement via planning and conduction of events, activities, and products as assigned
- Monitor the life cycle of JSOU Press products from initial acceptance through final production.
- Produce, brief, and maintain status reports IAW Editor in Chief's guidance.
- Coordinate graphics support, copyright permission, or photo support as necessary
Qualifications
- SECRET clearance required
- MS/MA required in relevant field (e.g. English, Journalism, Public Affairs) and 5 years’ experience in research publication and copy editing OR BA/BS in relevant field (e.g. English, Journalism, Public Affairs) and 10 years’ experience in research publication, professional publication, and copy editing.
- Ability to lift 40 lbs.
Travel
- Travel is required to various CONUS and OCONUS locations, including hazardous sites. The Contractor shall travel as initiated by written tasking.
