Job Description:
We are seeking a part-time Human Resources (HR) Manager to join our team and support our mission by overseeing human resource functions at our animal Rescue Center. The ideal candidate will have a
passion for both animal welfare and HR management, with experience in a similar role.
This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer.
Salary $40-45/hr
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract qualified candidates for various positions within the shelter.
- Coordinate the hiring process, including job postings, screen resumes, and assist in conducting interviews.
- Facilitate new employee orientations and ensure all necessary paperwork is completed.
- In conjunction with department heads, assist in annual performance assessments.
- Offboarding - assist termination process including preparation of separation paperwork, etc.
- Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding HR-related inquiries, concerns, and grievances.
- Foster a positive work environment by promoting effective communication, teamwork, and conflict resolution.
- Implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
- Work with Dept. Heads to identify training needs and provide/develop training programs to enhance
the skills and knowledge of staff.
- In coordination with COO, identify and facilitate training sessions and discussion groups.
- Support professional development opportunities for employees to grow within their roles.
- Manage employee benefits programs, including health insurance and 401-K retirement plans. - Assist employees with enrollment, changes, and inquiries related to benefits.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including personnel files.
- Prepare and distribute HR-related communications, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent
experience).
- Proven experience in HR management, preferably in a nonprofit or animal welfare organization.
- Knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, handle confidential information, and work independently.
- Familiarity with Bamboo HR
- Passion for animal welfare and a commitment to the mission of the organization.
Schedule:
-This is a part-time position, with flexible hours based on the needs of the Rescue Center. Expected range of 8-16 hours per week, with the majority of hours in person.
- Some evening and weekend availability may be required for events, meetings, or emergencies.
