Job Position and Title: Facilities Manager
Job Classification: Hourly non-exempt
Responsible for the clean and working condition of the Special Explorers Center building and grounds. Supervises a team of maintenance and janitorial/housekeeping staff. Ensures all safety standards are adhered to. Generally responsible for electrical, mechanical, and plumbing-related repairs. may engage with landscape maintenance employees to ensure the exterior areas are kept in good condition.
Qualifications and Skills Include:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 4 or more years of proven experience as a Handyman or Maintenance Professional
- Experience with hand and power tools
- Ability to read technical manuals and drawings
- Knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and safety systems preferred
- Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanics
- Basic math skills including, but are not limited to, understanding measurements and diagrams
- Understand and follow all health and safety laws and company requirements
- Ability to maintain the security of sensitive, confidential, and privileged information
- Must be able to multitask with exceptional organizational skills
- Must be able to communicate professionally and effectively
- Knowledge of tools, maintenance supplies, and the ability to budget, price, order, and meet billing and other deadlines.
- Excellent driving record
Responsibilities:
- Reports to work as scheduled each day.
- Complies with SEC policies and procedures and acts in a manner that is indicative of team spirit and cooperation.

- Oversees and ensures that everything is in working order, hours may vary, but normal working hours are Monday through Friday 9 AM to 6:30 PM. Sometimes this job requires the facilities manager to be on call to respond to emergency maintenance situations.
- Experience in handiwork, including light electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, drywalling, heating, and ventilation maintenance.
- Supervise other employees, and contractors, and work with third-party vendors who will help facilitate the smooth operation of the facility.
- The ability to use a computer is important to do things, such as being able to communicate with other parties and track budgets.
- Communication skills are needed to work well with administration, staff, and contractors.
- To help prevent emergency situations from occurring, the facility manager will regularly inspect the property for things that need to be repaired.
- Makes minor repairs and installations when necessary and reports major issues to General Manager.
- Orders janitorial supplies, equipment, and light bulbs for the Bakersfield facility.
- Responsible for completing work orders as assigned by the Operations Manager.
- Responsible for monthly performance checks of all janitorial and housekeeper areas
- On-call 24/7.
- Conduct maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, repairing broken locks, patching drywall, and painting.
- Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems (e.g. ventilation)
- Collaborate with employees and other professionals during renovations
- Identify and report the need for major repairs
- Assist professionals with repairs
- Check control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues
- Assemble, install, and maintain appliances, equipment, and furniture
- Performing routine landscaping on the grounds including ensuring of parking lot and sidewalks are free of debris and litter.
- Performing routine vehicle maintenance
- Provide the company with guidance and advice regarding equipment and components or infrastructure of the building
- Perform routine tests on the alarm systems, appliances, equipment, and vehicles
- Responsible for coordinating and performing the physical moving, loading, and carrying of company property when needed.
- Be a safe driver and follow traffic laws as well preventing damage to company equipment, appliances, furniture and other objects while in motion
- Undertake emergency tasks such as interior or exterior flooding, tree falls, and infrastructure breakdown due to unforeseen circumstances and weather conditions
- Complete other duties as assigned
- Follow the company policy handbook, manager directive, and any training received.
