PURPOSE
Responsible for all matters related to the SEMA Garage’s Product Development department planning and operations. Lead department staff operations and manage all requests for information, data, and reports from Association staff and members.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY

Provide leadership and oversight to Product Development Engineers and Product Development Technicians.

Oversee all programs, to ensure the Product Development department stays within budget.

Lead the analysis of department services and program usage and collaborate on efforts regarding updates to operational costs/fees.

Lead the development of new offerings (programs and services) of the Product Development department.

Work alongside of the department’s Director to coach, mentor & train staff as needed in the Product Development department.

Lead the planning, preparation, and operation of Measuring Sessions or other events.

Respond to Association staff requests for vehicle product data and information reports. Maintain and compile records of requests for information.

Assist department staff with Association member requests for vehicle product data and information. Maintain and compile records of requests for information.

Oversee and lead staff who assist SEMA members with product development, through the following services: CAD data distribution, Rapid Prototyping (3D Printing), 3D Scanning, and Reverse Engineering.

Interaction with OEM-staff members to promote growth of CAD data access & compliance of OEM data requirements. Ensure CAD data (including database) provided by the OEMs is secure, controlled, and accessed only by those authorized.

Oversee all software & equipment maintenance contracts, to assure they align with the department’s budget and are up to date.

Oversee and lead the department’s equipment and facility organization/maintenance, working alongside of other department leaders.

Develop and maintain regular updates to Association staff and members regarding expanded service/program information and availability.

Lead marketing messaging and content efforts for department-related services and events. Work alongside of the department’s Director on further marketing plans.

When directed by management, perform other assignments and duties as required.
RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to Director of Product Development & Vehicle Technology
Oversight & leadership of Product Development staff.
Interfaces with all levels of staff.
Interfaces with Association members.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

5 years of project management and/or database/document control experience.

Project Management Certification is preferred.

Associates degree, or higher, is preferred.

Experience leading staff in day-to-day activities and department projects.

Strong verbal and written skills for reporting and communication via email, phone, and in-person.

Strong customer service.
-
Understanding of engineering tools/equipment/software is a plus.

Experience overseeing department goals & budget.
-
Understanding of different vehicle makes, trims, and models is a plus.

Understanding vehicle components & their function is a plus.

Knowledge of computer software systems including, but not limited to Microsoft Office.

Ability to interact with all members and Association staff in a professional and cooperative manner.
