Oral Surgery of NNY in Watertown, NY is seeking a talented Surgical Assistant (with experience.)
We are looking for a qualified Surgical Assistant to assist our Surgeons with operations in our facility. You will be tasked with preparing and sterilizing the operating rooms and all equipment before procedures begin. A Surgical Assistant responsibilities include assisting with surgeries, gathering and organizing all necessary tools needed to perform these procedures and they will monitor a patient's vital signs throughout surgery. They will also provide assistance as required by surgical teams while passing instruments that have been sterilized. Ultimately, you will work with a team to ensure each procedure is a success from start to finish.
Responsibilities
Prepare patients for treatment, ensuring their comfort
Select and set up instruments, equipment and supplies
Sterilize instruments according to regulations
Assist the dentist through 4-handed dentistry
Sterilize equipment and hand surgeons' instruments upon request
Provide oral hygiene and post-operative care instructions
Capture Radiographic/Scans as needed
Requirements
Proven experience as dental assistant in specialty preferred.
Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods
Understanding of health & safety regulations
Ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks
Good computer skills
Excellent communication and people skills
Attention to detail
Well-organized and reliable
High school diploma; graduation from an accredited dental assistant program
Additional certification or training is an asset
