What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Estimator position at Spectra Tech, Inc.?
Spectra Tech has an immediate need for a Senior Estimator in Aiken, SC.
Duties/Responsibilities:
May supervise others.
* Prepares estimates including fair cost, conceptual, and definitive design.
* Reviews specifications and drawings/sketches for the preparation of the cost estimates
* Performs detailed quantity takeoff of drawings or sketches.
* Applies appropriate cost elements analysis of overhead, escalation, contingency, and profit applicable to contract type.

* Performs detailed quantity takeoff of drawings or sketches.
* Applies appropriate cost elements and analysis for overhead, escalation, contingency, and
profit applicable to contract type.
* Produce estimates in a manner that meets SRNS procedure requirements.
* Integrate with schedule and supporting cost narrative.
* Coordinate task analyses, durations, and quantities with cost and schedule engineers.
* Communicate potential issues and resolutions to Project Management daily.
* Create reasonable and realistic estimates as demonstrated by the basis of backup documentation.
* Utilize schedule, basis of estimate, and Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) data dictionary.
* All work shall be performed using SRNS systems/software.
* Create reasonable and realistic estimates as demonstrated by the basis of backup documentation.
* Mentor and train all personnel regarding the estimating techniques that are approved by the FAR and the manner in which SME input may be used in the estimating process.
* Define estimating approaches to be used for each WBS.
* Develop detailed estimates.
* Define assemblies (e.g., work crews) if needed and program into integrating software.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, science, or engineering.
- Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" security clearance.
- 10 or more years related experience or combination of education and experience of 12 years or more.
Desired Qualifications:
- Estimating experience on a Department of Energy (DOE) Capital Line-item Project(s).
- Estimating experience with InEight software (5 to 10 years).
