Overview

The Operations Manager reports to the Director of Operations and is responsible for assisting with the administration, planning, budgeting and direction for the operations of the Tribute Communities Center. The Operations Manager directly oversees building operations, ice crew, conversions, housekeeping, and equipment/supplies inventory control. Insures an effective and cost efficient program by assisting the Director of Operations with the Operations budget, also performs and delegates related day to day responsibilities as required.

 

Coordinates all elements of facility operations including purchasing, directs the operation and maintenance of the venue, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, custodial, grounds, sound, lighting, a/v equipment, life safeties systems, smoke/fire detectors. Creation and implementation of staff schedules according to all CBA guidelines including by-weekly payroll submissions. The Operations Manager directly oversees all overnight building conversions for all concerts and events.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Director of Operations in the overall day to day operations and maintenance of the venue.  
  • Plan, direct, coordinate, and review the work plan for all event changeovers; meet with staff to identify and resolve problems; assign daily work activities, projects and programs; monitor work flow; review and evaluate work products, methods and procedures;
  • Assist with selecting, training, motivating and evaluating staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies or concerns; implement discipline and assist with termination procedures.
  • Coordinate, schedule and review the work plan for overnight conversions. Lead conversions and direct staff to meet promoter and show requirements. Ensure stage placement is accurate and all other event relates items are ready for the concert/event. All event details to be fully completed to ensure a successful event.
  • Coordinate and create work schedules and vacation requests for FT & PT Operations staff as per CBA guidelines, including by-weekly payroll submissions to Finance Dept. 
  • Participate in the development and administration of the Operations budget; forecast of additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitor and approve expenditures; implement adjustments as necessary.
  • Coordinate facility arrangements and monitor the work of contractors and suppliers; including any equipment rentals. Report any issues or concerns to Director of Operations immediately.
  • Ensure staff are working safely, efficiently and are aware of proper safety guidelines and procedures. Meet with FT operations staff on a regular basis to address any concerns and to ensure open communication and dialogue within the Dept.  
  • Order supplies and materials for maintenance programs and work orders within budget guidelines; receive and maintain supplies inventory.
  • Maintain hazardous materials communication program, material safety data sheets and required records and permits.
  • Develop and maintain an accurate record keeping system; including equipment maintenance and inventory logs.
  • Must have experience and working knowledge of all ice maintenance equipment, grounds keeping equipment, electrical, refrigeration, forklift, and plumbing.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in an operations position in arena, stadium, convention center or public assembly facility with knowledge of set up, housekeeping and event coordination including progressive supervisory responsibility.
  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited college/university in a related field (Facility Management, Engineering, Sports Management, etc.) preferred; High School Diploma (or equivalent) required.
  • Class B Refrigeration Operator Certificate (TSSA) is preferred or; be able to obtain this certification within one year of service
  • ORFA Certified Ice Technician Certification (C.I.T) is considered an asset
  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements
  • Strong interpersonal skills required; including excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language
  • Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in the English language
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including, overnights, early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays and extended number of consecutive days.
