The Chicago Video team is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting video solutions across the City of Chicago. Our team works closely with multiple city agencies to define requirements and provide solutions that increase situational awareness for mission-critical first responders. The team works on a wide variety of technologies, including cameras, video management servers, analytics, networking, and access control.
Job Summary
The Video Staging/Installation Technician’s role will be to support a large video and license plate reader deployment for a mission-critical customer. The role includes the fabrication of video equipment, programming/configuration, and inventory management. The role will include working with multiple teams both inside of MSI and out.

Job Summary
The Video Staging/Installation Technician’s role will be to support a large video and license plate reader deployment for a mission-critical customer. The role includes the fabrication of video equipment, programming/configuration, and inventory management. The role will include working with multiple teams both inside of MSI and out.
Responsibilities
- Work with the lead MSI engineer to understand project requirements
- Fabricate video equipment pods for final installation.
- Install equipment inside the enclosure
- Build and install cabling for POD and cameras
- Configure Linux-based computers for use with Vigilant LPR cameras
- Configure LPR cameras with basic setting before deployment
- Manage/track/consolidate project hardware inventory
- Test programmed equipment to ensure it meets quality standards
- Update and create documentation related to the project
- Provide onsite support as needed for installations
- 25% travel
- Two-year degree preferred or relevant experience
- Experience working with fixed and wireless network equipment
- Experience troubleshooting in a technology field
- Experience with current corporate communication technology
- Email, spreadsheet, word processors, presentation tools
- Experience configuring equipment using a computer/laptop using procedures
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize them accordingly to meet deadlines
- Ability to troubleshoot complicated issues and document solutions
- Create reference documentation for the process when relevant
- Attention to detail
- Work effectively with little supervision individually or as a member of a team
- Worked with tools used in the telecommunications field
- Factory/Staging Environment
- Chicago Onsite
- Sit for 4 hours or more
- Use computers extensively for 4 hours or more
- Operate equipment necessary to perform the job
- Bend, crouch, or stoop
- Lift items that weigh over 50lbs
- Outdoor weather exposure, work in inclement weather
