The Director, Social Media Strategy must have a love for strategic thinking blended with an ability to lead day-to-day execution, distribution, and optimization. They will have proven themselves as an energetic and collaborative team member with responsibilities on high performing brands/accounts. They are ready to show—and teach—junior social media specialists how it’s done and collaborate directly with account leads to develop best-in-class social strategy recommendations for their clients. Ideally, the right candidate will possess an interest in healthcare and how to reach various audiences, though direct healthcare experience is not mandatory. An idea partner, they know that collaboration is key, and works lockstep with fellow disciplines to deliver high quality work that meets needs but also exceeds expectations.
Job Responsibilities
- Take the lead in crafting social media strategy recommendations in partnership with client team leads to independently deliver impact to our clients
- Manage and provide support and supervision to junior members of the team while working independently on own project load
- Sets high strategic and creative standards and inspires junior team members to be curious and pioneers in thinking about new ways to activate across social media on behalf of our clients
- Craft strategic internal, creative assignment briefs to help support client editorial planning
- Has a point of view on all major social media platforms
- Experience with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn paid campaigns
- Enjoys analyzing data to uncover insights. Inputs on regular reports on performance and knows when to recommend a shift in strategy
- Has fundamental understanding, or interest in learning and implementing, rules around healthcare/products on social channels
- Able to move seamlessly from brand to brand as needs arise
- Participate in strategic and tactical meetings with clients and account management to develop meaningful programs that reflect client needs
- Establish relationships and present social media strategy recommendations to clients
- Partners and communicates clearly with supervisors, creative team, project managers and account counterparts to ensure social media strategy and execution delivers quality work
- Participates in new business initiatives and organic growth opportunities
- Demonstrate the ability to develop strategies that meet client objectives and overarching program goals
- Supervise direct reports and play an active role in their professional development
Desired Skills and Qualifications
- 7 years of social media experience, including end-to-end execution of paid campaigns
- Experience working with healthcare clients, strongly preferred
- Prior management experience preferred, but not required
- Strong presentation skills
- Able to travel to meet client and agency needs
