Job Title: Mild/Moderate Special Education Teacher
Department: Special Education
Reports To: Principal/SPED Director
Summary:
The Mild/Moderate Special Education Teacher is responsible for providing instruction and support to students with mild to moderate disabilities. This includes developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), providing differentiated instruction, and managing student behavior. The teacher will also work with parents and other professionals to ensure that students are receiving the services they need to succeed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with parents, teachers, and other professionals
- Provide differentiated instruction to meet the needs of students with mild to moderate disabilities
- Manage student behavior in a positive and supportive manner
- Work with parents to ensure that students are receiving the services they need
- Collaborate with other professionals, such as school psychologists, speech therapists, and occupational therapists, to provide a comprehensive education for students with mild to moderate disabilities
- Maintain accurate records of student progress
- Participate in professional development activities to stay up-to-date on best practices in special education
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in special education or a related field
- Oklahoma teaching license in special education
- Experience working with students with mild to moderate disabilities
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to meeting the needs of all students
Desired Qualifications:
- Master's degree in special education
- Experience working in a public school setting
- Experience with a variety of special education teaching methods
- Experience with behavior management techniques
- Experience with assistive technology
