Job Skills / Requirements

Provides a variety of grounds and maintenance duties such as, trash pick-up, entryway cleaning, turf and shrub maintenance, Grass cutting, general building repair, etc. to support the team and in achieving the department’s goals and objectives .

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  1. Maintains all exterior sections of entrances into the Museum and Garage.
  2. Conducts daily rounds of the exterior of the Museum and Garage picking up and disposing of all trash and debris.
  3. Coordinates with Facilities Manager, assisting with minor maintenance needs throughout the Museum grounds and parking garage.
  4. Assists Security in identifying issues with exterior lighting and reporting issues to Facilities Manager.
  5. Performs minor shrub bed and tree maintenance in coordination with the Facilities Manager.
  6. Assist building services in setting up and tearing down for events.
  7. Conducts monthly grounds inspection and hazard assessment.
  8. Reports any unsafe condition to Facilities Manager.
  9. Maintain flexible schedule to accomplish work that must be scheduled after normal first shift hours.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent training and experience.

 

Essential Skills:

  • Experienced in the safe operation of cleaning equipment.
  • Skill in performing groundskeeping and maintenance duties with knowledge of equipment and supplies
  • Ability to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Ability to be flexible in work schedules and assignments.
  • Ability to understand and work within environmental standards.
  • Ability to use judgment and discretion, tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to function independently and be flexible for interruptions and changing priorities.
  • Ability to use floor cleaning machines, ladders and lifts a plus.

 

Supervisory Responsibility

  • This position has no direct reports

 

 

Physical Demands/Work Environment

 

  • Sits, reaches, walks, climbs, and lifts intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Communicates using English language.
  • Sees and hears or uses prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately.
  • Able to lift, push, pull, and move equipment, supplies, etc., of fifty (50) pounds throughout the workday.
  • Willing, as necessary, to work beyond normal working hours, on weekends, and remains accessible when away from the Museum so the requirements of this position can be fully met.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • This is a full-time non-exempt position of 40 hours per week. This position is eligible for overtime pay.
