Job overview  

We know that our brand is shaped by the words and language we use. Does hearing that make your heart pitter patter? We are looking for a copywriting master to make every conversation, internally and externally, reflect our brand’s unique personality. We’ve got the brand voice and tone guidelines; we just need the creative personality to make them come to life! If writing copy, being clever and working on a fun, fast-paced team is your jam, then we’ve got the job for you!   

Here are the specifics: 

• We want you to get excited about elevating our brand in a big, big way. 
• Do you like seeing your words everywhere? Excellent. Because we’ll want you to drive, develop and deliver copy for marketing campaigns, emails, social media, direct mail pieces, video scripts, employee paperwork, branding initiatives and more. 
• You care about the details, right? We’re looking for someone to focus on both the details and the big picture—fixing the smallest of errors that have been overlooked while respecting the overall theme and intent of the content. 

• Can you work well with others? Awesome. You’ll be collaborating with various departments to align all Speedway Motors messaging. 
• Are you a time management wizard? Cool. This role needs someone who can manage multiple projects, with the ability to switch from one to the other seamlessly. 
• Constantly work to improve processes; make suggestions for productivity improvements, and optimize employee workflow, while continuing to meet our customers’ needs.  
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance. 
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment 

In an effort to keep our Speedway family safe we have implemented safety measures including temp checks and rigorous cleaning schedules for those that are working on campus. This position will be work from home or a hybrid work environment depending on where hired.  

Remote work opportunities can be performed in these states: Nebraska, Arizona, West Virginia.  

What you’ll need to succeed in this position: 

• A Bachelor's Degree in English, communications, journalism, or related field required. 
• 3 years of experience in writing and/or editing. 

• A portfolio of writing samples that showcase your abilities. 
• Experience using style guides and language syntax to fix inconsistencies and errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and design. 
• Experience in an agency or in-house agency setting is highly beneficial. 
• Experience writing for retail clients preferred. 
• Working knowledge of AP Style Required. 

• Automotive knowledge is not a requirement but is an added bonus!
