What are the responsibilities and job description for the VP, People position at Spekit?
About the Role:
Spekit was founded by two visionary leaders on a mission to redefine the way employees onboard and master their roles, within the flow of work. Last year, Spekit grew from 40 employees to over 131, in multiple countries and locations, and this year we will be doubling again in size.
As a result, we’re looking for an exceptional VP, People who can help us figure out the best way to continue to scale our team and culture as we continue to grow, helping us overcome the challenges that come with this fast growth.
Our VP, People will report directly to our CEO and will be responsible for creating a comprehensive people strategy that includes core HR operations, culture, talent acquisition, performance management, total rewards, L&D and overall employee experience.
Our current people team is made up of 6 individuals across HR & recruiting, including a Director, People & Recruiting (US) and Head of Human Resources (Pakistan), along with a team of 3 recruiters and an Office Manager (Pakistan). You’ll be tasked with coaching and mentoring existing team members, while figuring out the best way to scale and grow the people & recruiting function.

In this role…
- You’ll own the entire People function, including HR and recruiting, and you’ll build a team that will enable international expansion
- You’ll strategize and execute a roadmap for our people operations function, including goals & KPIs that align with overall company objectives
- You’ll help execute on our strategy of a remote-first culture; one that allows us to recruit the best talent from anywhere, while maintaining our connection to one another, ensuring that employees have the best experience
- You’ll maintain compliance with applicable employment regulations and best practices that are aligned to meeting the needs of the business and improve employee experience
- You’ll partner closely with leadership to help identify talent gaps, forecast future growth, implement talent management solutions & create programs that support employee growth
- You’ll help define a performance management strategy that includes process and tools, measurement, leveling, compensation bands, benefits
- You will oversee the recruiting and talent acquisition function, ensuring that we optimize processes and hit our hiring goals
- You’ll prioritize DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) efforts in all aspects of our work, constantly pushing our org forward and working toward more equitable outcomes (https://spekit.com/diversity/)

Some traits we’re looking for, from you:
- You have a deep knowledge of US employment regulations and requirements, and have experience managing HR functions in other countries. You are able to ensure that Spekit remains compliant as we grow and scale
- You have a strong grasp on the tools, process, technology, and infrastructure required to attract, retain, engage and grow a remote-first team. You know the best practices, but you are creative and open to thinking outside the box
- You have strong organizational skills and a process-oriented state of mind, leveraging data to make smarter "people" decisions where possible
- You put the “Heart” in HR; You lead with values first and are passionate about developing, growing and supporting our employees. You communicate with empathy and always have the best interests of our company and employees in mind
You may be a fit if you have:
- Experience growing and scaling a hybrid, remote & culture-first organization; ideally you have a background in startup environments
- 8-12 years of leadership experience in human resources and recruiting
- Demonstrated experience in scaling complex, fast-moving organizations with multi-country presence
- Comprehensive knowledge of HR best practices, specifically for distributed and global workforces
- A proven track record of building and maintaining fantastic teams and values-aligned cultures through periods of growth and change
- Excellent verbal and written communication
