Venue SIX10 at Spertus Institute is seeking an AV Technician to join our growing events team. AV Technicians are tasked with setting up and operating Audio Visual equipment for Spertus Institute programs and Venue SIX10 events.

Venue SIX10 offers a variety of event spaces; including a 409 seat theater, state-of-the-art breakout classrooms and expansive events space. Requirements

• Act as primary technician, or as part of a team, responsible for set-up, operation, troubleshooting and breakdown of AV equipment, including sound systems, projectors, LED screens, computers, lighting, and microphones for Spertus programs and rental events
• Interact directly with staff, presenters and clients to meet their needs
• Proper storage and handling of equipment and supplies, so that both built-in and portable AV equipment is accounted for and in good working condition
• Communicate equipment maintenance issues and supply needs to Technical Services Manager
• Oversee load-in and and set-up of third party AV vendors. This includes facilitating vendor needs (power, room access, etc.), protecting Spertus property, and helping vendors integrate with built-in AV systems
• Other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

• Technical aptitude and at least 2-4 years previous experience working with sound, lighting, and video for mid to large-scale events and/or conferences
• Knowledge of wireless systems and microphones
• Ability to interpret technical needs and offer solutions
• Excellent problem solving, decision-making, interpersonal and communication skills
• Courteous, punctual and dependable.
• High school diploma or its equivalent
• Ability to work long hours with flexibility for early morning, evening and weekend hours
