Sphere Risk Partners is seeking a General Liability Claims Adjuster to become a part of our team! This position is responsible for all aspects of general liability claims handling including determining coverage, investigating and determining the facts of loss, evaluating covered damages, and effectuating settlement. Additionally, the position involves documenting all activity in the claims system and providing superior customer service to our clients.
Responsibilities:
Claims Administration
Customer Service - Deliver superior customer service to Sphere clients by handling claims in a timely and efficient manner, responding timely and effectively to customer inquiries, being available to assist clients with claim emergencies and providing effective claim solutions. Be familiar with and adhere to individual client service instructions.
Claim Investigation – Conduct a claim investigation to confirm facts of loss. Engage third party vendors as needed and per client service instructions. Review contracts as necessary. Identify subrogation opportunities and pursue recoveries.
Manage Litigation – Engage defense counsel as necessary and per client service instructions. Manage Counsel to ensure an agreed litigation plan is in place, together with a litigation budget.
File Documentation - Maintain the claims system with all necessary data fields completed, a history of all financial transactions, electronically retained documents and file notes. All file activity will be recorded in the computer Claim Notebook.
Communication – Timely contact with clients and claimants. Timely reporting to excess carriers. Keeping the client informed of high exposure, unusual claims or significant changes in liability or damages. Keep management informed. Communicate effectively and in the format outlined in the client service instructions.
Technical Claim Handling – handle assigned claims in accordance with industry best practices, and Sphere Quality Standards.
Qualifications:
Experience
2-5 years of previous experience adjusting General Liability claims
Prior third-party administrator work preferred
Multi-line experience a plus
Education
Four-year college degree OR equivalent work experience
Associate in Claims Designation (AIC) or other insurance coursework preferred
Licensing
Must have current adjuster licensing in at least one state, or be willing to obtain upon employment within 90-day probationary period.
This position requires adjuster licensing in multiple jurisdictions, even if your home state does not require adjuster licensing. If you are not licensed at the time of hire, a condition of employment is the ability to study and pass adjuster licensing coursework within the probationary period. The position further requires a commitment to keeping up with continuing education requirements, as needed.
Strong written and verbal communication skills including business letter writing.
Proficiency in basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
Experience working in a claims system including data entry, diary, financial data management, and file documentation.
Ability to manage multiple projects, activities, and tasks simultaneously including establishing priorities.
Flexibility and the ability to manage change.
Experience in conflict resolution
Strong negotiation skills
Deadline and detail-oriented
Ability to utilize Microsoft Office products: Outlook, Word, Excel
Additional Information:
This position reports to the Claims Supervisor and interacts with all claims staff
Interest or experience in adjusting claims from other lines of business is a plus
