Controller

Spherion is looking for an experienced Controller for a local Sioux Falls client. The Controller will play a key role in the current and long-term financial strategy of a local Bank. This position is responsible for leading the Bank's financial reporting and accounting areas. The Controller will oversee all financial systems integrating core bank systems, loan and servicing systems.

Salary $110-135k/year DOE

Responsibilities:

-Responsible for regulatory financial reporting for the bank and holding company

-Assess and evaluate financial performance of organization with regards to long-term operational goals, budgets and forecasts. Provide insight and recommendations to both short-term and long-term growth plan of organization

-Create and establish yearly financial objectives that align with the bank's plan for growth and expansion

-Prepare and present monthly financial budgeting reports including monthly profit and loss and forecast versus budget

-Develop and maintain monthly operating budget and annual bank operating budget

-Oversee all transactions and aspects of operations related to general ledger, payables, and receivables

-Draft and implement policies and best practices to support achievement of objectives and required standards

-Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and organizational laws, regulations, guidelines, and best practices, including but not limited to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and tax laws

-Prepare Call Report analysis and submissions

-Prepare ALLL (now CECL)

-Manage fixed assets schedules

-Cash management and treasury functions including cash flow projection and analysis

-Manage the Bank's business and insurance policies

-Analyze and develop policies, procedures, and systems to ensure effective internal controls, optimum efficiencies, and improvement of processes

-Perform other duties as required

Skills:

Certified Public Accountant status highly desired

Education:

Bachelors

Experience:

10 years

Qualifications:

-Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required

-A minimum of ten years of experience in the financial function of a company required, preferable in the banking industry

-Excellent verbal and written communication skills

-Thorough knowledge of financial and legal best practices and requirements with a proven ability to provide sound and ethical financial counsel to executive leadership

-Thorough understanding of and personal involvement with systems and methodologies of accounting and finance

-Possess a high degree of analytical and problem-solving skills

-Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

-Requires previous experience to exhibit supervisory and leadership skills

-Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related soft
