What are the responsibilities and job description for the Health, Safety, and Environment Technician position at Spherion?
Purpose
- To ensure company compliance with all OSHA regulations, ISO and related regulations, supporting the HSE manager in overall Health, Safety & Environmental functions for business operations.
Your Responsibilities
- Support all associated Managers in implementing our Company Health and Safety Programs.
- Provide daily support to maintain on-going programs for the department such as stocking of supplies, housekeeping, material waste removal.
- Assist HSE Manager in conducting routine safety training for employees and outside contractors.
- Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly safety audits/inspections on all related equipment and production areas.
- Assist with all OSHA, Fire, Life Safety and Environmental audits/inspections as per guidelines and procedures.
- Support HSE Manager with the development and coordination of the company’s written safety and environmental program.
- Serve as a technical resource to supervisors concerning safety and environment related issues with equipment and procedures.
- Document safety inspections, citing dangerous areas or any failures of equipment and recommending corrective procedures.
- Responsible for the proper disposal of hazardous materials, or contracting a certified hazardous waste disposal and transport company.
- Oversee and maintain all company issued garments accompanying technicians during weekly deliveries. Maintain an accurate count of garments assigned.
- Maintain general consumables for daily operations, such as cleaning supply inventory and tools required to maintain a safe and healthy environment for all employees.
- Safely operate company vehicles and equipment including but not limited to fork trucks, pallet jacks, scissor lifts, etc.
Your Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of HSE compliance or related experience.
- Basic knowledge of OSHA 1910.
- Safety experience required, specifically fire and life safety.
- Ability to prioritize and meet assignment deadlines.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to effectively organize, prioritize and time manage workload.
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to work with employees from all levels of the company.
- Computer literate in Microsoft Office, specifically Word & Excel.
Physical Demands
- Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time. Occasional heavy lifting up to 60lbs. Ability to work at heights above 6 feet. Ability to work outdoors during all seasons, including on roof surfaces.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
