What are the responsibilities and job description for the WAREHOUSE SUPERVISOR position at SPI LLC?
Summary
Manage the physical operation of the branch warehouse including all shipping and receiving activities. Manage day to day activities of all warehouse personnel.
Essential Functions
- Coordinate with appropriate branch personnel on inventory stock levels and space requirements per management’s direction.
- Coordinate incoming and outgoing inventory including setting shipping schedules, delivery requirements and when applicable, negotiation with freight carriers and other service and/or equipment providers to set freight rates or help minimize our cost to serve.
- Execute other responsibilities as needed including warehouse work, delivery, adherence to credit policy and purchasing support.
- Prepare warehouse for and assist with physical inventory counts as directed by management.
- Branch Delivery and Warehouse expense as a percent of sales meets or is less than budget with emphasis given to overall headcount, hours worked, overtime and delivery expense control.
- Performance metrics are met with regard to on-time delivery, notification of backorders, and correctness and completeness of shipped orders.
- All material is shipped, received and stored correctly and accurately.
- Assist with recording, monitoring and communicating applicable service metrics throughout the branch as directed.
- Administer applicable branch and corporate policies and best practices within the branch.
- Support the elements of the “Driving Profitable Growth” program successfully in order to improve overall customer satisfaction.
- Provide effective coaching to progressively improve performance of warehouse and driver personnel.
- Help develop a strong and proactive safety program by holding regular meetings to discuss proper procedures and processes. Set clear objectives and demand conformance to provide a safe work environment while complying with all applicable government safety regulations.
- Ensure that company assets are properly maintained and serviced (ie.: trucks, trailers, forklifts, inventory, equipment etc).
- Verify and insure correctness and completeness of received materials.
Education, Skills, Experience, Knowledge and Supervisory Responsibility
- Strong warehouse operational skills.
- Very good at organization and planning.
- Team player and customer service oriented.
- Excellent people development and coaching skills.
- Experience in inventory control techniques as well as logistics knowledge.
- Hands on leader with ability to lead by example and delegate tasks to others.
- Ability to handle several tasks at the same time and work well under pressure.
- Must be a cooperative leader and effective communicator.
Work Environment
- This position is mostly working in a warehouse environment.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 60 lbs.
