The position is based out of the DC (Vienna, VA) office and the candidate must be willing/able to work from Spire office at least three days per week.
What You'll Do:
Legal Counsel will be responsible for reviewing and drafting contracts, including but not limited to, non-disclosure agreements, contract amendments, reseller agreements, Order Forms, teaming agreements and other routine contracts. They will provide the first line of support for the US Federal Government business unit and should have general familiarity with US Federal Government contracting practices including basic command of the FAR/DFARS.
- Contract Management: Utilize your expertise in contracts management to review, draft, negotiate, and manage a variety of federal sales contracts, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Support Sales Teams: Collaborate closely with our sales professionals at all levels, including early-career BDRs, experienced Enterprise Account Executives, and post-sales Account Managers, to provide timely and accurate legal guidance and support throughout the sales process.
- Compliance Oversight: Serve as a trusted advisor on legal and regulatory matters, providing guidance to ensure that all federal sales activities adhere to applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Risk Mitigation: Identify and assess legal and contractual risks associated with federal sales contracts, developing strategies to mitigate risks while maximizing business opportunities.
- Training and Development: Conduct training sessions and develop resources to educate sales and client professionals on legal best practices, contract requirements, and compliance obligations.
Who You Are:
You are a curious and engaged Legal Counsel professional with previous experience supporting contracts management, particularly in within U.S. Federal sales contracts and related matters.
- Law degree from an accredited law school
- 4-6 years of experience in contracts management, with a focus on supporting federal sales contracts and related matters.
- Strong understanding of federal contracting regulations, including but not limited to FAR, DFARS, and other applicable laws and regulations.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts in a clear and concise manner.
- Analytical mindset with impeccable business acumen, capable of assessing legal and business implications to drive informed decision-making.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across cross-functional teams and time zones, demonstrating adaptability and flexibility in a fast-paced environment.
- Growth mindset with a hunger for learning and professional development, coupled with a passion for contributing to the success of the team and the organization.
- Active US Government Security Clearance or ability to obtain one strongly preferred
- Experience working cross-culturally and cross-functionally, with a demonstrated ability to navigate diverse stakeholders and perspectives
The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Final base salary for this role will be based on the location, skills, experience and qualifications. In addition to base compensation, this role may be eligible for annual equity awards and our employee benefits program, including vacation, sick, and personal time off; optional medical, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage; a 401(K) plan; health and wellness reimbursement program; and participation in Spire's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.We reserve the right to go outside of the range and/or modify the range or benefits at any time.
