Designer

Spitzer, a recognized industry leader in designing and fabricating high-specification equipment, is currently seeking a Designer to join our team. The Designer reports to the Design Manager and is responsible in the creation of compelling functional apparel products that are inspired, meaningful, and brand-right. This includes research and development of trends, themes, concepts, and curation. This position will support day-to-day Engineering Department demands and select projects. 

What Does a Week in the Life of the [Job Title] Look Like?

• Serves as a designer on internally engineered/designed projects to develop IFA and IFC skid package deliverables. Responsible for assigned activities and deliverables within an engineering or design discipline on the projects.
•  Applies broad knowledge of engineering principles and practices to project engineering in preparing designs and deliverables. 
• Prepares layouts, study drawings, detailed 2-D and 3-D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) design models, and construction drawings.
• Prepares bulk material quantity takeoffs applicable to the discipline.
• Provides input concerning layout problems within the project.
• Receives operational supervision and technical guidance from a Design Manager, Engineering Manager, or Director/VP of Engineering.

Required Education and Experience:

•   Education in graphic design or related field preferred. 
•   3 plus years of professional experience.  
•   Understanding of good project and mechanical engineering management practices.
•   Proficient with computer modeling software (BR&E Promax and CADWorx and AutoCAD Suite are preferred).
•   Must have excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
•   Working knowledge and experience in Microsoft software (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
•  Strong written and verbal communication skills involving a very broad array of engineering disciplines and organizational levels.
•    Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work alone or as a part of a team.
•   Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple tasks with limited supervision.
•  High level of organization and understanding of document control.
•   Limited travel, however, some project commissioning may be required as needed.

Work Schedule 

The Designer will work Monday-Friday 7:30 AM-4:30 PM. Spitzer currently runs two shifts, Monday through Friday with overtime on weekend work as needed. Late afternoon/evening/weekend hours may be required as needed. Work schedules may change to accommodate production needs.
