What are the responsibilities and job description for the Data Governance Analyst position at Splunk?
Splunk is growing its Enterprise Data Management team to focus on the delivery of high-quality data to
support good business processes and decision-making. You will join Splunk’s Enterprise Data Management (EDM) team as a Data Governance Analyst focused on Order to Cash.
Partnering with the OTC Data Quality Steward you will use your understanding of practices in data quality measurement, analysis, and correction to build a quality management framework for the data most critical to order management, invoicing, credit and collections, tax operations and revenue recognition. You’ll
work alongside the EDM analysts for other Sales & Finance domains (Quote to Order, Renewals, Record to Report & Procure to Pay) using the quality insights you generate to drive faster remediation of data issues, increased data ownership within the business functions, and improved data content controls necessary to prevent data quality problems from occurring. When data quality issues are identified you will be responsible for ensuring good logging, prioritization, and resolution management in the EDM tracking tool. You will lead data quality issue reporting and remediation topics in Order to Cash Data Working Groups, using your quality analytics to drive prioritization and ownership of resolving those tracked data issues.

Requirements:
Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Operations, Statistics, Information Technologies, or related field
5 years of experience working within data quality for business operations and reporting processes
Minimum 2 years of experience, data profiling, data quality at an enterprise level
Prior experience working in or with finance operations teams & systems, SAP S4HANA (OTC/BRIM), Revpro & Anaplan.
Salesforce is a plus
Experience working with SAP BODS/Information Steward, Snowflake, Tableau, or similar data management & governance tools
Ability to engage, communicate & challenge effectively with management to provide clear, concise explanations of data quality issues and their business impact to gain support for resolution
Ability to communicate data quality practices and concepts as needed to educate and engage stakeholders
Develop reports and data monitoring tools to effectively identify data issues, root causes, and business impacts
Experience with automation of data quality cleansing & enrichment services, preferably with SAP Data Services, using both internal and external data sources (E.g., Dun & Bradstreet)
Experience translating business data needs into technical language and partnering with IT teams to ensure effective QA / UAT of solution delivery.
Experience working with offshore development teams to scope, prioritize & manage work delivery pipelines & backlogs
Prior exposure to finance regulations such as SOX, and data regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, PCI
Able to define and execute against priorities semi-autonomously, partnering with the Data Governance Steward within the Order to Cash domain. Work effectively within an agile environment, using tools like JIRA, ServiceNow & confluence to prioritize, document, and deliver data-related services.

Responsibilities:
You will implement data quality within Splunk through the following:
- Profiling of current system data to support data content standards definition
- Definition, build & deployment of data quality rules using defined content standards, to identify issues within and between systems & processes used to support Order to Cash (OTC) track
- Working with the business to establish quality thresholds for escalation and logging of data issues and for prioritization of those issues for resolution
- Monitoring for, logging & prioritization of identified data quality issues, using various impact measures
- Driving root cause analysis, resolution planning & execution with business and IT data owners
- Working with Business owners to create and report quantified operational impacts of data quality issues to drive business cases for prioritization and resolution
- Support prioritized programs via quality services such as data issue detection, data migration management, and data enrichment/clean-up necessary to support deployment
- Provide assurance on any data quality services delivered by external consulting services via programs or other business investments
- Build data dictionaries and glossaries as related to the capture of metadata used for the development of DQ rules
