STATUS: FULL-TIME, REGULAR, NON-EXEMPT
RATE OF PAY: $18.00 / PER HOUR

INTRODUCTION:
The incumbent will gain hands-on experiences in fisheries management and other projects as assigned, with a large emphasis of conducting angler surveys at angler access points for Lake Roosevelt. This position is designed as four days on with two days off rotation and is full-time year-round.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work within the Spokane Tribal Fisheries Department assisting with fisheries survey efforts on Lake Roosevelt. This position is designed to largely work unsupervised following an annual schedule which has four-day work rotations with two days off. This position will be responsible for extensive data collection and interaction with anglers. This position is centered around public interaction concerning angling on Lake Roosevelt and the incumbent must be comfortable interacting with all members of the public to gather fisheries information from anglers during fishing excursions. This position will be assigned a work vehicle for their survey shifts and must have an emphasis on safety and public awareness in their role for Spokane Tribal Fisheries. This position will be responsible for other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Willing and able to function as an entry-level fisheries technician
- Punctual, safety oriented, and willing to work scheduled days in field and office settings
- Reliable transportation to/from Fisheries office in Wellpinit
- Demonstrate interest in a career field such as; fisheries, wildlife, culture, forestry, aquaculture, etc. (expressed in cover letter and during interview)
- Express an interest in public outreach and interaction concerning natural resource issues
- Able to work in a professional setting with co-workers, and an interest in actively engaging the general public
- Able to work in individual and group settings
- Able to understand and follow safety and data collection/entry protocols
- Willing to work in inclement weather (heat, wind, rain, exposure)
- Willing to work flexible and long hours in office and field when necessary
- Willing and able to work effectively in supervised and non-supervised settings
- Willing to travel which will include overnight stays in hotels (travel, lodging and meal costs will be covered by the STF Department)
- Willing to learn about regional Tribal and Federal programs and processes
- Willing to spend long hours in training/research/reading settings
- Able to utilize PC computers and software
- Able (or willing to learn how) to enter data into MS Excel and utilize data collection applications
- Willing to occasionally work long hours on a boat in a large, deep reservoir, sometimes in remote areas
- Able to handle extended periods of sun exposure with limited access to restroom facilities
- Able to pack and carry 30lbs over various terrain
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Completed High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Required to pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Required to pass a pre-employment criminal background check, and must not have any fish or wildlife convictions.
- Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License and a good driving record.
- Must have (or ability to attain) a Washington Boater Education Card.
