We are looking to hire a part time activities assistant
The Activities Aide/ Assistant under the direction of the Director of Activities or the Executive Director organizes and executes the activity programs for the facility in harmony with the values and guidelines established continually promoting and encouraging residents to participate in a manner that honors the individuality and resident's preferences. This includes internal and external opportunities for socialization and stimulation across religious and ethnic backgrounds for the residents involved.
Position Requirements:
- A creative high energy individual who has the skills necessary to motivate and promote programs while increasing participation and interest in activities for the senior residents.
- Experience in organizing and implementing internal and external therapeutic programs for the elderly.
- Compassion for the elderly and an understanding of the aging process.
- Ability to orally express oneself and communicate effectively with residents, families, staff and visitors.
- Must possess patience and tack dealing with residents, families, visitors and coworkers.
- Must demonstrate overall positive image and attitude.
- Promotes loyalty to the community among staff, always generate a positive attitude and image.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and coordination of a seven day a week resident centered activity program including spiritual, intergenerational, outside activities, entertainment; with a monthly calendar of planned and formal activities.
- Coordinate volunteer programs, resident shopping, beauty shop and outings. Maintain departmental target goals and objectives.
- Notify director of potential conflicts and issues that may detract from the scheduled activity, implements necessary changes to avoid downtime.
- Facilitate socialization among residents.
- Invite and remind residents to participate in activities.
- Maintain a list of birthdays and special occasions recognizing these events in a timely manner.
