SUMMARY AND OVERVIEW:
In 2015, the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and Springfield Public Schools partnered to form the Springfield Empowerment Zone Partnership (SEZP). SEZP is committed to ensuring that the nine middle schools in “The Zone” are engaging environments where teachers receive the supports they need to grow professionally, and students have the opportunity to acquire the academic and personal skills to succeed in the college or career of their choice.
Each SEZP school has the autonomy to craft and implement its own unique vision for success and receives support from an ecosystem of national-caliber partners. Furthermore, Teacher Leadership Teams at each school ensure that teacher voice is heard and that there is strong communication between school administration and staff.

Family & Community Specialist:
The Family & Community Specialist will work to ensure that students demonstrate dramatic student achievement gains and internalize the school’s values. The Family & Community Specialist will help lead the school’s efforts to create a school where families are highly engaged in the academic experience of their students and active participants in other events affiliated with the school.
Responsibilities of this position may include:
- Liaise with families of current and future students, which likely will include home visits, to ensure families understand and are invested in the vision and values of Lyceum
- Support in student recruitment efforts throughout the school year, including conducting home visits for current and future students
- Develop strong partnerships between Lyceum and local business, universities and other organizations - these partnerships may support community service work, fundraising or other endeavors that add to the overall experience of Lyceum students and families
- Support the school administration to fundraise for events, trips, supplies, and other things that support the academic growth of students and the investment of families in the Kiley Academy experience
- Support the administration with day-to-day operation of the school, including speaking with families as needed, organizing events, and any other tasks that are discussed with the administration

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate's degree (preferred) or 3 years of experience to substitute

- Experience in an urban setting
- Fluent in Spanish (preferred)
