The Center for Access Services (CAS) is dedicated to helping students overcome non-academic barriers impacting their ability to stay in school with the goal of improving graduation rates and increasing self-sufficiency for every student at STCC. The Center for Access Services oversees the college food pantry, The Ram Mini Mart, which is an on-campus food pantry to help students with supplemental groceries, personal hygiene

products, and other basic necessities. The Food Pantry Manager reports directly to the Director of CAS. Collaboratively, the Food Pantry Manager and Director of CAS oversee and manage the operations of The Ram Mini Mart, food insecurity/hunger awareness initiatives and events, and nutrition education. This is an action-level position that involves planning, implementing, and assessing food security strategies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead operations and logistics pertaining to the food pantry and all food insecurity/hunger awareness initiatives and events. This includes, but is not limited to: inventory procurement and distribution, collection and reporting of data, outreach and campus relations, programming, etc.
  • Utilize department software(s) and systems to manage and maintain accurate records/data pertaining to the food pantry and all food security programs/initiatives.
  • Work closely with CAS staff to ensure accurate and complete student records as it pertains to the usage and participation in all food security efforts including the food pantry; and assess student needs as it pertains to food insecurity and provide on/off-campus food security supports and resources.
  • Be Food Handler Certified and supervise all interactions within the food pantry to assure compliance with the highest food safety standards, including compliance with Department of Health.
  • Assists potential staff with gaining Food Handler Certification prior to working at the pantry; monitor all certificates of completion on a semesterly basis.
  • Work closely with external food pantry partners and donors to secure nutritious food and other basic needs to enhance student success at STCC.
  • Drafts monthly, semester, and/or annual reports on program usage, event/initiative assessment and opportunities for improvement.
  • Stays current on best practices of food pantry management and food security and applies these principles.
  • Manage a high volume of incoming referrals while maintaining patience and a heighten level of professionalism and customer service.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned that do not alter the basis functions of the position.

Job Requirements:
  • An associate's degree required.
  • Three to five (3-5) years of demonstrated experience in food pantry operations, office management, record keeping, customer service, and/or higher education.
  • Knowledge of confidentiality laws/policies and experience working with sensitive/confidential information.
  • Knowledge of laws/policies pertaining to food safety standards.
  • A working knowledge of database applications and software.
  • Strong computer skills are required.
  • Experience working in/with a diverse population and promoting cultural acceptance and respect.
  • Successful candidates should have strong communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrate strong organization skills, be detail oriented, and be good with the public.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Works in an office setting. Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. The individual needs to move about inside the office to access office machinery. Constantly operates a computer and other equipment, i.e., a copier. This person frequently communicates with students, faculty, and staff. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.


Additional Information:


Salary: $20 per hour. 18.5 hours per week (flexible schedule). May occasionally require work in the evenings and/or weekends.

Grant Funded: Yes. One year appointment through June 30, 2024 with potential annual reappointment based on grant funding availability.

Candidates for employment should be aware that all STCC employees are required to complete Information Awareness Security Training within thirty days of their orientation date and annually thereafter.
