Job Summary:

The Pearl Store Floor Supervisor is a working leadership role responsible for supporting the Store Manager in overseeing store operations, employee shifts, store cleanliness, and ensuring team members uphold company policies, standards and customer service. The primary focus of this position will be on leading and supporting the Front-of-House (FOH) and Back-of-House (BOH) areas of the cafe. This is a multi-faceted position that requires the ability to pivot between Barista-ing, baking, food preparation, and leadership/delegation.

Supervisory Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provides support in training FOH and BOH new hires and employees who need to improve.
  • Ensures the proper completion of all staff members’ assigned tasks for both the front and back-of-house in the Store Manager’s absence.
  • Communicates effectively with the Store Manager, staff, HR, VP and Owner.
  • Provides direction and feedback to staff in a timely manner.
  • Communicates any important information to the Store Manager, including but not limited to: team morale and performance, retail business, product quality issues, inventory and equipment maintenance needs.
  • Covers barista shifts as needed.
  • Covers back of house tasks (baking, food preparation, chai production, back-of-house organization, etc.) as needed.
  • Supports the team and Store Manager in maintaining organization throughout the store.
  • Ensures cleanliness throughout the store and communicates cleaning related tasks and objectives with the team and identifies areas for improvement.
  • Checks out baristas at the end of their shift and ensures checklists are correctly and thoroughly completed in absence of Store Manager, or as needed.
  • Able to openly and consistently communicate between locations as needed in absence of Store Manager.
  • Leads by example within the store in all areas, including care for your teammates, communication, attentions to detail, customer service, etc.
  • Upholds systems, processes, procedures and efficiencies to maximize sales and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Able, willing, and adept at pivoting between a wide range of changing priorities.
  • Supports the Store Manager in conducting product inventories and communicating ordering needs
  • Other duties as assigned.

Back-of-House General Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Regular organization of walk-in cooler freezer, lowboy coolers, and preparation stations / storage shelves.
  • Prepares ingredients for food and beverage production.
  • Prepares food and beverage items in accordance with business needs.
  • Ensures compliance with food safety and health policies in regards to sanitation, food storage, and food preparation.
  • Performs checks to ensure all food meets quality and safety standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Barista Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and serves hot and cold drinks such as coffee, tea, artisan and specialty beverages.
  • Provides excellent customer service while taking orders, describing menu items, preparing and serving beverages, food items, etc.
  • Responsible for preparing and baking-off products for our fresh-baked offerings including cookies, scones, breakfast burritos, etc.
  • Ensures finished baked items meet food safety and quality controls.
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary work environment by cleaning work areas, utensils and equipment.
  • Regularly cleans service and seating areas and proactively takes care of any messes behind the bar and in the customer areas.
  • Responsible for notifying management when inventory items are running low to facilitate ordering, and assists in receiving and distributing stock supplies.
  • Accurately receives and processes customer payments.
  • Cleans and restocks workstations and ensures that all equipment is sanitized and prepared for the next shift.
  • Responsible for completing all checklist tasks required for the beginning, during and end of a shift.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Baker Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Follow recipes to measure and combine ingredients using mixers, blenders, heat sources, and other equipment to make baked goods, such as cookies, tea bread, cakes, etc.
  • Testing ingredients and finished goods to ensure that each item meets food safety and quality controls.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by being friendly, answering questions, making recommendations, and accepting orders and payments.
  • Record client information and ensure that orders are fulfilled accurately and on time.
  • Maintain records relating to orders, inventory, and production levels.
  • Clean and restock workstations and ensure that all equipment is sanitized and prepared for the next shift.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven successful experience as a Store Manager preferred.
  • Bakery and café experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in hot, hectic environments.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, using hands and appliances.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $23.00 per hour
