Spruce has an opening for a Material Handler to join our Warehouse team - First shift, working Monday-Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm
This position works as part of a small team across all functions of shipping/receiving, material transfer, and order fulfillment services, and requires proficiency in data entry and familiarity with general warehouse procedures and processes. This is a fast paced environment, and requires the ability to quickly change tasks as dictated by daily schedule. Being detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy in pulling correct material, counting parts, measuring and weighing materials is a must and a critical part of this role. This position also requires the ability to perform basic math, work independently. Must be able to speak and read in English to follow written and demonstrated procedures.
Essential Functions:
- Accurately pick/pack orders for shipment, load/unload shipments of materials, and systematically process products for storage in accordance with existing warehouse procedures.
- Maintain a high level of quality and accuracy of work to ensure that our customers received the correct products, and receive them in a timely manner.
- Transfer materials and/or finished goods on a daily basis. Verify the type of materials to be moved, verify that the quantities are correct, and that all appropriate paperwork is present for the transaction.
- Receive and unloads freight both manually or with equipment such as manual and powered pallet jacks; checks for damaged goods.
- Verify quantity and quality of orders.
- Verify items received with purchase order; wraps, packages, and ships supplies.
- Deliver and retrieve supplies to and from work or storage areas.
- Stocks shelves and rotates inventory.
- Other duties and tasks as assigned
Education/Experience Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant warehouse and related logistics experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of shipping software platforms preferred (UPS – World Ship, FedEx - Ship Manager, etc).
- Working knowledge of handheld Smart Scanners for order picking and inventory management tasks.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills with ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to successfully schedule and coordinate order shipments using proper freight dimensions and final destination and handling information.
- Computer skills including working knowledge of navigating an ERP system to manage shipping/receiving/inventory functions. Must also be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience utilizing forklift, pallet jacks, and other tools a plus – will be expected to pass certification to successfully operate fork trucks.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- Bend, stoop, pull, lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the day; stand and walk continuously throughout an 8 hour shift; moving between multiple floors and buildings within facility; reaching to stock shelves at multiple levels; clean and maintain a safe working environment.
- Must have active driver’s license with clean driving record, and be able to successfully pass background check
