Overview

SquadLocker’s Engineering team is actively recruiting for a Lead Test Engineer who will be responsible for organizing and implementing the processes and tools for our team of Quality Assurance Engineers. In this role, you’ll spearhead the drive for quality within product specifications and work with other members of the business in the design and development of new products. Additionally, you’ll develop and maintain the quality control process for our Engineering team.

 

Our ideal candidate is self-motivated and able to work on-site at our Warwick, RI office however we’re open to remote opportunities for the right applicant.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and refine test strategies and test plans for new and existing features
  • Define and develop teams' skills and capacity for functional and non-functional testing
  • Bolster and improve existing test suites and solutions to increase deployment confidence and speed
  • Research, implement and improve testing tools and processes for our products and teams
  • Participate in design, code, and test case reviews and provide feedback to improve the testability of our systems as well as the quality of our code and tests
  • Analyze defects and gaps in quality to determine how to improve our development process
  • Lead root cause analysis, identify trends and corrective actions, and work with the product team for prioritization
  • Keep SquadLocker stakeholders up to date on QA team projects and progress
  • Collaborate closely with the Product and Engineering teams to develop technical and domain expertise
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

We are looking for ambitious individuals with a history of high achievement and the desire to work in a fast-paced environment with peers who challenge them to be better. These are the qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of technical experience
  • Experience testing modern web applications in an agile environment
  • Experience testing APIs, both manually and programmatically
  • Expertise in using business requirements to define test cases and testing activities from concept through implementation and deployment
  • Experience in planning, organizing, and implementing test data for our testing needs
  • Experience in developing and maintaining automated tests and frameworks using open source tools and technologies and proven ability to scale those to multiple teams within engineering
  • Experience with scripting and/or object-oriented languages like Ruby, C#, Java, Javascript
  • Experience with load and performance testing tools like JMeter or K6
  • Experience with version control and CI/CD tools like Jenkins, CircleCI, Github Actions
  • An instinct and understanding of where software might fail, and how to track down failures at various layers of an application stack
  • Curiosity, attention to detail, customer-focused mindset, and passion for delivering business value through testing in a timely manner
  • Excellent prioritization skills with an ability to multi-task and clear, concise communication
