SUMMARY:
We are currently seeking a team-oriented and caring full-time Medical Assistant to join our growing, fast-paced outpatient practice. The Medical Assistant’s basic job function is to assist providers in carrying out daily clinical and administrative tasks.
The Medical Assistant must be organized, efficient, and able to follow directions and multi-task. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Time Management skills and punctuality are critical as this is a patient-facing role.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- 1 years of clinical or medical experience required.
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of basic Medical Terminology preferred.
EDUCATION:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:(These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and may be adjusted as necessary.)
- Run toxicology screens on patient specimen samples.
- Draw blood.
- Perform urine HCGs.
- Coordinate with laboratories regarding specimens.
- Apply knowledge of sterile techniques and OSHA regulations.
- Communicate with insurance companies to obtain prior authorizations for medications, verify insurance eligibility, and obtain patient referrals.
- Medication reconciliation at the residential facility.
- Maintain a neat and clean work environment.
- Provide administrative support to the front desk, as necessary.
- Schedule patient appointments, as necessary.
- Administrative work such as filing, faxing, and scanning.
- Ensure compliance with health care regulations, including HIPAA.
- Manage EMR systems.
