ROLE OVERVIEW
Preparing alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages for bar and patrons. Interacting with customers, taking orders, and serving food and drinks. Assessing bar customers' needs and preferences and making recommendations. Utilizes Barbacks to ensure the bar run efficiently.
KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet guests in a timely and professional manner.
- Verify guests that purchase alcohol are at least 21 years of age.
- Possess full knowledge of bar and menu items and be able to make recommendations.
- Accurately take food and beverage orders from guests in a timely manner at the bar and lounge area.
- Deliver food and beverage orders within established time frames.
- Consistently use suggestive selling techniques.
- Ensure that alcohol is consumed in designated areas only.
- Set up and maintain appropriate stock levels for the bar.
- Conduct inventory of all liquor and bar related supplies.
- Assist in placing orders for all liquor and bar related supplies.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift or reach arms over head or below waist. Must be able to hold or carry items weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted. Must be able to see, hear and speak without accommodation.
ENVIROMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to work in well-lit or dimly lit areas. Must be able to work in moderately to extremely noisy areas. Must be able to work in various temperature settings or areas, such as temperature-controlled walk-in freezers, indoor areas exposed to outdoor weather conditions, or outdoor areas. Possess the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
Minimum of 1 year of experience operating a full-service bar.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
PERSONALITY / OTHER
Must be confident, great communicator with the ability to communicate in English, as well as oral and written communication skills. Must have a sense of urgency and ability to prioritize quickly, efficiently and under pressure/deadlines. Must be able to work varied shifts to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Must present well to others in a positive and professional manner both internally and externally. Must be 19 years of age or older. Must possess and maintain a valid Food Handlers Certificate. Obtain any required alcohol service licensing requirements in ordinance with state liquor laws. Strong knowledge of alcohol mixology, drink menus and classic cocktail preparation. Must have accurate math and cash handling skills.
