This position is remote with ideal candidate located in a currently operating SSA location. Candidate will support accounts nationwide.

Project Manager


Reports to:
Admissions Strategy & Operations Manager


Job Description:

The Admissions Project Managers primary responsibility is to organize and lead all medium to large projects the Admissions team is involved in. This includes developing detailed project plans, identifying resources and ensuring their commitment to the project is locked in and scheduled, creating and tracking task lists and managing the overall projects budget and mitigating risks through proactive escalation. The Admissions Project Manager will drive project execution success through tight management of planning, resources and tasks.

This role has the opportunity to positively impact some of the coolest cultural attractions on the planet, and help support our partners mission of sustainability, conservation and animal welfare education.

Key Responsibility Pillars

People

  • Identify all parties involved in the project including who is responsible, accountable, consulted and informed.
  • Secure commitment from individual contributors or team leaders for their participation in the project ensuring that they have a clear understanding of the time commitment and their level of contribution to the project.
  • Ensures communication between all project participants is maintained with each individual knowing the current state of the project, their tasks and deliverable dates, and any updates or modifications to the project or plan due to unplanned changes.
  • Holds all project participants accountable for completing their responsibilities; working in partnership with their leader when areas of feedback are needed.

Growth

  • Develops process and project plans that are reusable and are optimal to ensure multiple complex projects can be managed at the same time.
  • Through structured project plans can empower other non-project management professionals to contribute to the management of project when the Admissions Project Managers time is best suited fully engaged in another concurrent project.

Operational Excellence

  • Defines the project objective, scope, roles and responsibilities for each project.
  • Obtains buy-in from all stakeholders.
  • Defines resource (people, places, things, internal at SSA, partner sites and external service providers) requirements and manages resource availability and allocation for all aspects of the project.
  • Outline monetary budget for all projects based on project requirements, track costs and ensure project is delivered on budget.
  • Prepares a detailed project plan to schedule key project milestones, workstreams & activities.
  • Manages delivery of the project according to this plan.
  • Manages and adjusts for any changes in project scope, schedule and / or budget.
  • Identifies and mitigates potential risks.

Social Responsibility & Culture

  • Supports unit in being an example for Company & Partner guidelines with regard to Sustainability/Conservation efforts.
  • Supports SSA in driving community effort through engagement activities and focus on opportunities of giving back.
  • Ensures a collaborative environment that while highly planned and organized is prepared for unexpected changes and is agile in reacting to changes.
  • Promote an inclusive & supportive approach in all projects.


Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree or combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years experience managing complex technology and operational process change projects including new software implementation and site operation conversion from one party to another.
  • A demonstrated proficiency of Microsoft Office programs (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft PowerPoint) and project management applications like Microsoft Project.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 30-40% of the calendar year, which may include weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs. or more as needed; if accommodation is needed, employee may work with People Department and leader through this.
  • Knowledge of ticketing point of sale systems (e.g., Altru, Centaman, Convergence, Galaxy), preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute, preferred.
  • Worker must comply with location specific vaccination and testing requirements.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Full-Time
  • Salary based on range in consideration of relevant job experience and certification/education; if position is physically in Colorado salary range will be posted above following EPFEW Act
  • Vacation or TAFW (time away from work) Plan we want our team to take time as they need, so dont accrue hours but rather give you freedom to schedule within scope of the business and your needs
  • Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance; employee premiums applicable
  • Short-Term Disability and Long-Term Disability, employer sponsored; scaled-salary pay following submission and approval of leave
  • Birthing Parent Plan covers up to (6-8) weeks fully paid leave, based on birthing event
  • (4) Week fully paid Parental leave following birth, adoption or foster event, can be coupled with Birthing Parent Plan to extend above timeline
  • 401k program, eligible for enrollment after (1) year of employment during January or June open enrollment periods, company is not matching at this time
  • $75 monthly cell phone stipend
