Primary Purpose
Working as an integral part of our manufacturing team, you will help by meeting deadlines and production expectations with little or no supervision and direct and assign work to production personnel to coordinate production activities. The supervisor in this position is at least 3 years into a career as a supervisor in an industrial manufacturing facility. Having knowledge and exposure to fabrication, assembly, and machining is a must. Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
· Knows, understands, communicates, and facilitates a safe work culture, ensuring compliance with all company safety/environmental and housekeeping polices.
· Plan’s production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
· Communicates between Production Manager, Customer Service personnel, and other supervisors of schedule problems, and resolves issues that may affect the planned priorities.
·Assures that employees are trained to adequately perform assigned tasks.
·Utilize warehouse space in an efficient manner to help expedite handling and shipping.
·Strong leadership skills including ability to think strategically, solve problems and create a motivating team environment.
·Coordinate work schedules to facilitate efficient employee utilization progress.
·Ensure orders are filled on time and meet quality standards. Maximize yields (Efficiencies and utilization) and throughput and minimize waste and unnecessary cost. Maintain proper staffing levels.
·Develop, lead, and coach employees and monitor job performance. Assist in formalizing and coordinating training activities.
·Perform daily inspections of work on shop floor and document work progress.
·Ensure equipment operates properly through preventive maintenance and repair.
·Manage time/conformance, on-time delivery and 5S requirements.
·Interfaces with other departments in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met.
·Attends production and safety meetings and provides training, guidance, and leadership, as needed for all shift personnel.
·Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, appraising employee performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems in conjunction with Human Resources.
·Promote and adhere to a Safety-First culture by following safety guidelines and requirements, understanding, and properly utilizing the appropriate personal protective equipment for each situation.
·Read and interpret work specifications, work orders, blueprints, and schematics.
·Maintain a positive outlook, train, and lead by example daily. Explain and/or demonstrate SSI standards to new and existing employees.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
·Minimum of 8 years manufacturing experience.
·Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
· Strong interpersonal skills.
· Ability to communicate in writing clearly and effectively.
·Ability to speak effectively with customers or employees of organizations.
·Have knowledge in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and inventory control system.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
·While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand.
·Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
·Must be able to lift to 50 pounds and up to 15 pounds above shoulder height on a frequent basis.
·Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
·Must be able to operate a forklift, pallet jack, hoist, and other machining equipment.
·Eye and Hearing protection devices are required, as defined by safety guidelines.
Experience:
·Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing facility.
