Job Summary :
Ensures patient assistance programs are being effectively utilized. Ensures proper accounting for the assistance for all patients in assistance programs.
Ensures proper coding charges are assigned and completes monthly reporting.
Job Responsibilities and Requirements :
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborates with patient financial services and other staff to ensure all potentially eligible patients are enrolled and receiving assistance.
This includes locating / obtaining authorizations in Epic, enrolling patients in manufacturer programs, ordering product / devices and contact with patients to ensure completion of enrollment.
- Completes analysis of patient accounts, eligible medication, device, and lab programs and recovers cost where manufacturer programs will allow.
- Conducts monthly audits for eligible patients to ensure appropriate enrollment procedures and reimbursement process has been completed accurately;
addresses inaccurate situations.
- Conducts monthly audits on enrollments to ensure accurate and complete order submissions.
- Assists with managing the copay assistance programs as needed, which may include creating reference tools and files for patient assistance.
- Works with manufacturers and foundations to identify new programs and obtain assistance on behalf of patients, may include meeting with manufacturer representatives;
resolving denials; expediting requests, etc.
- Assists in cross training other team members and coordinating best programs for patients and SSM.
- Creates and maintains a positive and cohesive work environment with coworkers and management. Ensures compliance and HIPAA guidelines are maintained for every patient.
- Provides ongoing communication and feedback to leaders regarding progress and barriers to providing patient financial assistance options.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
EXPERIENCE
Two years experience in patient financial assistance, patient access or provider office
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequent lifting / carrying and pushing / pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot / leg and hand / arm movements.
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
- Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
- Frequent keyboard use / data entry.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
- Rare climbing.
